  11.      This enhansed version of Amiga Dos is giftware. It can be distributed
  12.      freely if the following conditions are met:
  13.       1. It is kept fully intact
  14.       2. It is not altered in any way
  15.       3. No renumeration of any kind is received for it without my written
  16.          consent except by Fred Fish's nominal fee for his disks or CDs

  20.                             What is Needed to Run DosK
  21.  
  22.             1. You must be using Workbench 3.0 or above
  23.  
  24.             2. You need a Bootable Hard Drive.

  28.                                       HOW TO USE DosK
  29.  
  30.      Nothing could be simpler. Type the usual Amiga Dos command but add a 'K' at
  31.  the end and you will be in DosK. The exception to this is a DosK Command that has
  32.  no Amiga Dos equivlent.

  34.          E.G. To use the directory command type DirK
  35.  
  36.      An example of a unique DosK Command is VidK, is has no Amiga Dos equivlent
  37.  
  38.     DosK HELP is also very easy to access, there are 2 ways to get to it:

  40.                1. Type the DosK Command and add a '?' at the end
  41.  
  42.                   E.G. DirK?
  43.  
  44.                 2. Type HelpK and a file requestor appears with a listing of
  45.                    all command help and pick the one you want.

  51.  REMEMBER NOT ALL AMIGA DOS COMMANDS HAVE BEEN ENHANSED BUT ALMOST ALL OF THE MOST
  52.  COMMONLY USED ONES HAVE BEEN.

  55.                                   UNIQUE DosK COMMANDS
  56.  
  57.      I have and will be creating dos commands using the best of the Public Domain
  58.      Sys:C type programs and enhansing them to Create a DosK Command. An example
  59.      of this is VidK which uses the PAL and NTSC PD Programs that change your
  60.      screen mode. Thd DosK Command VidK changes your screen mode between PAL
  61.      and NTSC by the press of a button. When you use the installer you will
  62.      be given the option of installing the PD programs to your WorkBench C
  63.      directory where they MUST be in order for the DosK Command to operate.

  69.          The DosK Commands use approximately 48,000 bytes of space

  71.          The Dosk Help files take up approximately 230,000 bytes of space

  76.          You can save approximately 156,000 bytes by NOT installing the
  77.          Dosk Help ICONS.

  79.          ADVANTAGE - THE SPACE YOU SAVE

  81.          DISADVANTAGE - YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE INDIVIDUAL HELP
  82.          FOR DosK THROUGH THE WORKBENCH BY OPENING THE DRAWER CALLED KHELP
  83.          AND CLICKING ON THE ICON, BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WILL STILL WORK THE
  84.          SAME WHEN USING DOS.

  90.        Q What the heck is DosK Anyway ?
  91.  
  92.        A DosK is an enhansement to the Amiga Dos system. It does not replace Amiga
  93.          Dos but rather improves it. While Amiga Dos has improved over the years
  94.          it still uses the same interface. This interface is the typed line that
  95.          scrolls past the screen and requires a great knowledge of the options
  96.          available with each Amiga Dos Command. DosK allows you to use Amiga
  97.          Dos commands without typing, in most cases, and very little in others.
  98.          DosK will never scroll past the screen since it supplies a scroll bar
  99.          which will allow you to scroll back up and see what slid past you. Now
  100.          you can also print any text screen without having to use a dump program
  101.          and it is done by using one of the menus that are now at the top of
  102.          your screen along with bookmarks and many other goodies.

  106.          DosK has its own commands that will increase the usefulness of Amiga Dos.

  110.                            HOW TO INSTALL DosK

  113.                1. OPEN THE TAB ON THE DISK CONTAINING DosK
  114.  
  115.                2. INSERT THE DISK IN DRIVE DF0:
  116.  
  117.                3. CLICK ON THE INSTALL ICON
  118.  
  119.                4. AFTER INSTALLATION COMPLETE RESET THE COMPUTER BEFORE USE
  120.  
  121.   Please Note - a copy of your origional User-Startup file will be saved in
  122.                 the drawer ORIGIONAL_US. This wasn't necessary but I thought you
  123.                 might like to save it.

  130.     AddbuffersK - ADDBUFFERS add and subtract device buffers

  134.     CmdK    - CMD intercepts parallel port  and sends data to file
  135.     ConclipK- CONCLIP reads clipboard and can close it
  136.     CopyK   - COPY copies files and directories
  137.     DirK    - DIR LIST shows directories and listings
  138.     DeleteK - DELETE deletes files and directories
  139.     DiskCopyK - DISKCOPY copies a disk
  140.     FilenoteK - FILENOTE comments files and directories
  141.     FormatK - FORMAT formats a disk
  142.     HelpK  -  No Amiga Dos Equivlent. Brings up Dosk Help Commands
  143.     InfoK   - INFO shows much information
  144.     InstallK- INSTALL installs and checks bootblocks
  145.     JoinK   - JOIN joins files together as one
  146.     LockK   - LOCK lock devices to avoid writing, reading etc.
  147.     MakedirK- MAKEDIR creates directories
  148.     PrtK    - PRINT prints to printer or files
  149.     ProtectK- PROTECT protects and unprotects individual files
  150.     ReadK   - NO EQUILAVENT brings up Multiview, AmigaGuide and More
  151.     RenameK - RENAME renames files and directories
  152.     ResidentK-RESIDENT shows and manipulates Resident Commands
  153.     RunK    - RUN runs programs etc.
  154.     SearchK - SEARCH search for strings or files
  155.     SortK   - SORT sorts to a new file
  156.     TypeK   - TYPE types file to new file in Hex or Ascii Char.
  157.     VerK    - VERSION reads version of libraries etc.
  158.     VidK    - NTSC & PAL toggles screen mode between Ntsc and Pal
  159.               (REQUIRES THE PUBLIC DOMAIN PROGRAMS PAL & NTSC)

  161. Things you should know:
  162.  
  163. MANY OF THE 'K COMMANDS' USE ENVIROMENTAL VARIABLES. IT IS IMPORTANT
  164. THAT YOU NEVER REQUEST A GADGET TO CARRY OUT A FUNCTION AFTER YOU
  165. HAVE PRESSED CANCEL ON A FILE REQUESTER BECAUSE THE LAST FUNCTION
  166. OR FILE IDENTIFIED WILL STILL BE REPRESENTED BY THE VARIABLE, HENCE
  167. YOU MAY, FOR EXAMPLE, CREATE A FILE WHERE YOU DIDN'T WANT ONE ETC.

  169. WHEN USING A FILE REQUESTOR(S) MAKE SURE THE DESIRED INFORMATION
  170. APPEARS ON THE LINES OF THE REQUESTOR(S) BEFORE SAVING. IF THERE IS
  171. SOMETHING TO BE TYPED IN MAKE SURE YOU DO IT.

  173. ONE DosK Command uses Sound. To fully ulitize this command you should
  174. set the Workbench Prefs/Sound to Flash and Bell or Sampled Sound.

  176. Future commands will, no doubt, use more sound so I suggest you set
  177. the sound as specified above.

  191. THE BREAK COMMAND. IT DOESN'T WORK IN ALL INSTANCES SINCE THE

  201. Conclip can be turned off by click the button but this doesn't
  202. clear the clipboard of any clips.

  206. THIS COMMAND ONLY USES THE FAST FILE SYSTEM SINCE IT HAS BEEN A
  207. STANDARD SINCE WORKBENCH V1.3. IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL OLDER DISKS
  208. FROM PRE WORKBENCH V1.3 USE THE REGULAR DOS COMMAND INSTALL.
