  2.                      Digital-XTC is proud to present:
  3.                      "INDISCRETIONS"
  4.  
  5. Welcome to the Digital-XTC CD-ROM.  This CD-ROM provides "Indiscretions" CD-Rom viewers with video of unequaled quality and pleasure. 
  6. This CD-Rom plays to PC/AT's with high color display cards or 
  7. standard VGA display cards that are supported with a VESA driver.
  8.  
  9.                 INSTALLATION FILE FOR D-XTC CD-ROMS!
  10.  
  11. To configure your PC with Expanded Memory, make sure your Config.sys
  12. file has the following:
  13.     DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
  14.     DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE 2048 FRAME=e000 RAM
  15.  
  16. (If Your System Locks Up - Take The Frame=eooo out of the line above)
  17.  
  18. If you use QEMM: 
  19.     DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM
  20.         (Instead of HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.EXE)
  21. If you are using any other type of memory manager you must look in 
  22. your manual for the appropriate line to be added to your Config.Sys.
  23.  
  24. 1.  Insert the D-XTC CD-Rom into your CD-ROM drive
  25.  
  26. 2.  Access your CD-ROM drive [e.g. E: F: <enter>]
  27.  
  28. 3.  At the prompt for the system, type "INSTALL D C <enter>". 
  29.     This Example is if your D drive is a CD-Rom drive and you wish 
  30.     to install the Directory to the C Drive. Follow Instructions.
  31.     [e.g. D E <enter>] - Do not use a colon after the CD-ROM 
  32.     drive letter 
  33.  
  34. 4.  Once installation is finished a D_XTC directory will be 
  35.     created on the Hard drive. 
  36.  
  37. 5.  To start "Indiscretions" go to the D_XTC directory on 
  38.     your Hard Drive and type "GO" <enter>.
  39.  
  40. 6.) If you do not have the DOS directory in your path you may get
  41.     a bad command when you run the install -
  42.         - The files that need to be copied are:
  43.         - DIGXTC.EXE 
  44.         - TMMPLAY.GXL
  45.         - ?.GFT
  46.         - TESTAUD.EXE
  47.         - TEST.WAV
  48.         - THE GO.BAT FILE FROM THE ?PLAY DIR. 
  49.                 - CD-ROM = D - GO TO DPLAY DIR; ETC..
  50.         - README.TXT
  51.  
  52. 7.)If your Hard drive is something other than the "C" drive - run 
  53.    the install as noted, with one exception:
  54.     Example: INSTALL F D
  55.         THIS IS FOR A CD-ROM OF F AND HARD DRIVE OF D
  56.         * ONCE THE INSTALL IS FINISHED YOU MUST EDIT THE 
  57.           GO.BAT FILE - 
  58.             CLS
  59.             @ ECHO OFF
  60.             SET TMMLIB=D:\D_XTC
  61.             DIGXTC F:\OPEN.TMM
  62.  
  63.         * YOU MUST EDIT THE TMMLIB=?:\D_XTC LINE *
  64.  
  65. 8.) The Audio test program is run by typing TESTAUD TEST.WAV
  66.     This will configure the DIGXTC Module to run with your Audio Card.
  67.         This test will create an AUDIO.CFG File, If you need
  68.         to change this file, or if the audio test does not
  69.         recognize your audio card correctly, follow these
  70.         instructions.
  71.     The Audio.Cfg file consists of the following:
  72.         
  73.         Card No=2
  74.         BaseIO=220
  75.         DMA=1
  76.         IRQ=7
  77.     
  78.     (This would be for a SoundBlaster Card at Base IO=220, DMA=1, 
  79.      IRQ=7)
  80.         You can change this to match the settings on your audio
  81.         card as follows:
  82.             Card No=1 (for Media Vision)
  83.             Card No=2 (for Soundblaster)
  84.             Card No=3 (for Adlib)
  85.             Card No=4 (for Microsoft SoundSystem)
  86.             Set BaseIO, DMA, IRQ to your settings on your Audio 
  87.             Card.
  88.         This should take care of any audio problems.
  89.     - If you have a ProAudio Spectrum 16 Soundcard that can be set up 
  90.       as a Soundblaster - you must set the mvsound.sys with s:0 and t:1
  91.         to get best sound
  92.     - If you have the Soundblaster Pro ASP: you must set your card at 
  93.       IRQ=7 and DMA=1
  94.  
  95. 8a.) If the Audio Test gives you a failure to initiate Windows Sound System
  96.      error, you need to manually create the Audio.Cfg file.
  97.         - follow the instructions above -
  98.         - You may have to reconfig the soundcard to emulate
  99.           the Soundblaster Audio Card, this can be done through
  100.            your Audio Card configuration program.
  101.  
  102. 9.) If you try to play video and the screen just refreshes itself:
  103.     Make sure that you have the required amount of memory - 
  104.         540k FREE CONVENTIONAL MEMORY
  105.         2MB FREE EXPANDED MEMORY
  106.     To check your memory:
  107.         Type  MEM <ENTER> AT THE DOS PROMPT
  108.

  116.     Your video card needs to be VESA compliant.  Most cards 
  117.     require drivers loaded as TSRs during boot.  If you do 
  118.     not have one of these drivers, please contact the card 
  119.     manufacturer.
  120.  
  121.     Common questions and problems:

  123.     1.) The image is very poor - few colors and bad resolution.
  124.       
  125.       You have a non-VESA card or the VESA driver is not 
  126.       loaded when running the program.  Add the driver to 
  127.       your Autoexec.Bat

  216.   - 2 megabytes EXPANDED memory.

  220. NOTE: If the CD-ROM drive letter is changed after installing
  221. this disk, you will need to run the installation again.

  223. NOTE: If the CD-ROM does not run with your Video Card you may
  224. need to add the appropriate VESA drivers for your system.

  226. TERMS: The software and files on this CD-ROM have no guarantee 
  227. of any type whatsoever.  By purchasing this CD, the user agrees 
  228. that D-XTC will not be held liable for any damages,including lost 
  229. profits, savings, or any other incidental or consequential damages

  231. inability to use this program or any of the programs from this CD,
