  1.              INSTRUCTIONS

  3.      Road Rally Trivia is a trivia game
  4. with a twist.  Instead of just answer-
  5. ing a series of questions and getting a
  6. raw score, Road Rally Trivia combines
  7. the mental exercise of Jeopardy with
  8. the fun of a Road Rally.
  9.      
  10.      Your object is to travel from New
  11. York City's JFK Airport, to St. Louis  
  12. Missouri. (An extended version will 
  13. allow you to journey all the way to Los
  14. Angeles) In order to progress from city
  15. to city, you must answer trivia quest-
  16. ions.  With a correct answer, the game
  17. will provide you with route options.
  18. Select the route you wish to travel, 
  19. and you will be taken to the next city
  20. on that route. (approximately)
  21.    
  22.      A good idea is to have a Road
  23. Atlas handy to help select the route
  24. you wish to travel.  The difficulty of
  25. the trivia questions, and the amount
  26. of fuel used is dependant upon the
  27. type of route you've chosen to travel.
  28.    
  29.      Unlike many trivia games, you 
  30. must answer the questions in order
  31. to proceed.  This causes Road Rally
  32. Trivia to be somewhat like a scavenger
  33. hunt.  While you may be able to reach
  34. a city like St. Louis in only sixty
  35. turns, you MUST find the answers to
  36. those sixty questions.

  38.     Fortunately, the game allows you
  39. to save your place so you can take a
  40. break in order to find a particular
  41. answer, but then, if your GOOD, you
  42. may not need to scavenge an answer at
  43. all! 
  44.     
  45.     That being said, all is not lost.
  46. If a particular question is just too
  47. troublesome to answer, you may use a 
  48. roadside callbox to call Triple R and
  49. have them send out a tow truck to haul
  50. you back to a previous city.  This can
  51. get you a different question, but you 
  52. now have to re-trace your hard earned
  53. route!  Or maybe take an alternate one.
  54.       
  55.      Keep an eye on the gas gauge! If 
  56. you run out of gas, Triple R, (Road
  57. Rally Rescue) will have to come and 
  58. tow you back to a previous city. If  
  59. you feel you need gas, clicking on the 
  60. GAS icon will allow you the chance to
  61. get some; however, you have to answer
  62. a question first! (you didn't think it 
  63. would be that easy did you?)  For gas,
  64. the questions aren't trivia, but brain
  65. teasers.  If you can't answer the GAS
  66. teaser, Triple R can be called, but by
  67. now you know the drawbacks.

  69.      Also watch the billboard display
  70. at the lower right.  Certain routes
  71. ask questions on a specific topic.
  72. These are usually announced in advance
  73. on the billboard.

  81.           between cities, but it costs
  82.           the most in terms of fuel.
  83.           Driving by interstate also
  84. causes Road Rally Trivia to ask more
  85. difficult questions!

  93.           The great american highway 
  94.           system has much to offer.  
  95.           It's costly on fuel, but not 
  96.           as bad as going by inter- 
  97. state.  The questions are not as diff- 
  98. icult either, but you'll have to visit 
  99. more cities traveling this way.

  106.           state roads.  Fairly easy
  107.           on fuel, these routes offer
  108.           easier questions as well.
  109. Of course, your going to stop in many
  110. more cities along the way, but hey,
  111. at least your making progress!

  118.           Travel in leisurely abandon
  119.           on back county roads!  Take
  120.           the country at a slow pace.
  121.           It's efficient on fuel, and
  122. you get to visit every town and hovel
  123. on the way.  The questions don't get
  124. any easier than this, so leave that
  125. stress on the interstate and relax!

  137.      After you have answered a city's
  138. question, you will be presented with
  139. the particular route Icons for that
  140. city.  At this time, you may request
  141. fuel by clicking on this Icon.  But
  142. remember, not every city will have
  143. fuel available!  Be careful on those
  144. county routes, it's a long way between
  145. gas stations!

  162.     Well you've done all you know how
  163. to do.  You've harrassed the local 
  164. librarian, contacted the smithsonian,
  165. and written the national archives!
  166. Still Calumet City has you stumped...
  167.     As a last resort, call the help-
  168. ful people at Road Rally Rescue. They
  169. are always looking out for stranded
  170. motorists such as yourself.  It's a 
  171. shame that they aren't based out of 
  172. more cities, but they're a new company
  173. so you may be dragged quite a few
  174. cities back, but maybe this time the
  175. going won't be so rough!

  178.     Road Rally Rescue will try and fix
  179. you in place if possible.  But if a    
  180. second try isn't enough, then you'll
  181. be towed back to previous city.  Road
  182. Rally Rescue is based out of major  
  183. cities, or approximately every six 
  184. cities via an Interstate route.  Once
  185. your able to get past one of these 
  186. bases, then you'll only be towed back
  187. that far.  So all is not lost!

  189.     It is good to remember that at
  190. each city, the question is randomly
  191. selected out of the appropriate diff-
  192. iculty database.  This means that each
  193. time you visit a city, the question
  194. may be different, and each game won't
  195. be the same!  Because of the random 
  196. selection process, you may see the 
  197. same question twice, so consider that
  198. a freebee and keep on truck'n.

  201.     Certain cities will always have
  202. the same question.  This question 
  203. usually deals with something specific
  204. about the city or the area, so if you
  205. are familier with a certain area, it
  206. may be advantageous to travel that
  207. direction!
