INSTRUCTIONS
Road Rally Trivia is a trivia game
with a twist. Instead of just answer-
ing a series of questions and getting a
raw score, Road Rally Trivia combines
the mental exercise of Jeopardy with
the fun of a Road Rally.
Your object is to travel from New
York City's JFK Airport, to St. Louis
Missouri. (An extended version will
allow you to journey all the way to Los
Angeles) In order to progress from city
to city, you must answer trivia quest-
ions. With a correct answer, the game
will provide you with route options.
Select the route you wish to travel,
and you will be taken to the next city
on that route. (approximately)
A good idea is to have a Road
Atlas handy to help select the route
you wish to travel. The difficulty of
the trivia questions, and the amount
of fuel used is dependant upon the
type of route you've chosen to travel.
Unlike many trivia games, you
must answer the questions in order
to proceed. This causes Road Rally
Trivia to be somewhat like a scavenger
hunt. While you may be able to reach
a city like St. Louis in only sixty
turns, you MUST find the answers to
those sixty questions.
Fortunately, the game allows you
to save your place so you can take a
break in order to find a particular
answer, but then, if your GOOD, you
may not need to scavenge an answer at
all!
That being said, all is not lost.
If a particular question is just too
troublesome to answer, you may use a
roadside callbox to call Triple R and
have them send out a tow truck to haul
you back to a previous city. This can
get you a different question, but you
now have to re-trace your hard earned
route! Or maybe take an alternate one.
Keep an eye on the gas gauge! If
you run out of gas, Triple R, (Road
Rally Rescue) will have to come and
tow you back to a previous city. If
you feel you need gas, clicking on the
GAS icon will allow you the chance to
get some; however, you have to answer
a question first! (you didn't think it
would be that easy did you?) For gas,
the questions aren't trivia, but brain
teasers. If you can't answer the GAS
teaser, Triple R can be called, but by
now you know the drawbacks.
Also watch the billboard display
at the lower right. Certain routes
ask questions on a specific topic.
These are usually announced in advance
on the billboard.
Interstate Icon
Generally the quickest route
between cities, but it costs
the most in terms of fuel.
Driving by interstate also
causes Road Rally Trivia to ask more
difficult questions!
U.S. Highway Icon
The great american highway
system has much to offer.
It's costly on fuel, but not
as bad as going by inter-
state. The questions are not as diff-
icult either, but you'll have to visit
more cities traveling this way.
State Road Icon
Travel in relative ease on
state roads. Fairly easy
on fuel, these routes offer
easier questions as well.
Of course, your going to stop in many
more cities along the way, but hey,
at least your making progress!
County Road Icon
Travel in leisurely abandon
on back county roads! Take
the country at a slow pace.
It's efficient on fuel, and
you get to visit every town and hovel
on the way. The questions don't get
any easier than this, so leave that
stress on the interstate and relax!
Request Fuel Icon
After you have answered a city's
question, you will be presented with
the particular route Icons for that
city. At this time, you may request
fuel by clicking on this Icon. But
remember, not every city will have
fuel available! Be careful on those
county routes, it's a long way between
gas stations!
Road Rally Rescue Icon
Well you've done all you know how
to do. You've harrassed the local
librarian, contacted the smithsonian,
and written the national archives!
Still Calumet City has you stumped...
As a last resort, call the help-
ful people at Road Rally Rescue. They
are always looking out for stranded
motorists such as yourself. It's a
shame that they aren't based out of
more cities, but they're a new company
so you may be dragged quite a few
cities back, but maybe this time the
going won't be so rough!
Road Rally Rescue will try and fix
you in place if possible. But if a
second try isn't enough, then you'll
be towed back to previous city. Road
Rally Rescue is based out of major
cities, or approximately every six
cities via an Interstate route. Once
your able to get past one of these
bases, then you'll only be towed back
that far. So all is not lost!
It is good to remember that at
each city, the question is randomly
selected out of the appropriate diff-
iculty database. This means that each
time you visit a city, the question
may be different, and each game won't
be the same! Because of the random
selection process, you may see the
same question twice, so consider that
a freebee and keep on truck'n.
Certain cities will always have
the same question. This question
usually deals with something specific
about the city or the area, so if you
are familier with a certain area, it
may be advantageous to travel that
direction!
