Terra∞Time (c) 1991 GeoGraphics Software
User-Supported Software - January, 1991.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Terra∞Time is a program which tracks and displays
the local time in as many as 64 cities all around the globe. Unlike
other programs of this type, Terra∞Time accounts not only for time zone
effects but also for daylight savings time at each city. Information is
provided on a full-screen color non-graphics world map display. Windows
and menu-driven commands are used for program modifications. Program
options provide users with the ability to tailor the display for their
specific needs. Military or 12 hour clock can be selected and the
layout of the world map can be varied to suit the user. Additional
program features include time zone differences, great circle distances
between cities, currency conversion and a special alarm feature which
can be set for any world city time.
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS This program is designed for IBM Personal
Computers and close compatibles. It will execute on the IBM-PC, PC-XT,
PC-AT, PS/2 and PC-jr. DOS Version 2.1 or later is required.
Terra∞Time does not require an internal clock and will accept the time
set by you during DOS boot-up. Of course, the use of the internal clock
will allow for automatic timekeeping.
Since the program relies extensively on color, a color monitor is
recommended. The program will run, however, unmodified, on many
monochrome machines. Terra∞Time requires about 128K of memory and does
not require BASIC to operate.
Terra∞Time V5.0 is an enhanced version of GeoChron V1.0. The name has
been changed for legal reasons. Please destroy any copies you have of
the latter program and use this newest version of Terra∞Time in its
place.
PROGRAM REVISIONS
VERSION 2.1
This revision fixes a problem in the routine which saves data to the
disk file. Also writes LOCAL TIME date at bottom of screen in new
format, eg 09Jan88 rather than 1-09-88. Documentation now explains how
to alter plotting position of city points by editting the data file.
VERSION 3.0
This version fixes an input/output error which caused bad calculations
in great circle distance routine (had no effect on time). In addition,
the following enhancements are incorporated:
- City data changed to include all US time zones
- One key exit from main screen via <escape> key
- Commas now allowed in user-supplied title in data file
- A screen lock feature which leaves display running but locks
screen with secret user code to prevent tampering while user
is away from computer
- A "Currency" feature is added which computes money translation
between user-selected cities
- Additional improvements introduced to increase program processing
speed
- Documentation further enhanced in file TT.DOC
VERSION 5.0
- Additional cities provided, 59 total plus 5 dummy cities
- True display of night/day line on earth's surface (sinewave)
- All features can be changed within program using windows
- Corrects error in non-full-hour timezone calculations
- Currency and Daylight Savings Time Updated to March, 1990.
- Allows alternative user data file input on command line
- Allows city code strips longer than 3 characters
- Provides bearing calculation between cities along with
great circle distance computation for HAM operators
- Uses <Escape> key to backup from all menus and to exit main screen
- Includes variable timezones, not just on hour and half hour
- Allows user selection of SOUND features
- Allows city plot location on map using arrow keys
- Includes UTC, Universal Time Code, selection
- Other minor enhancements to program and improved documentation
