THIS TUTORIAL EXPLAINS IN GREAT DETAIL COMMANDS USED IN
TUTORIAL 003. AT THE END OF THIS TUTORIAL TRY TO DRAW A
SIMILAR DRAWING USING THE COMMANDS DEMONSTRATED HERE.
**** METERS AND CENTIMETERS ARE USED IN THIS TUTORIAL ****
<end>
CALL THE FUNCTION "GRID" AND DRAW A 2 X 2 GRID OF AN OVERALL
SIZE OF 16 X 16 IN THE COLOR CYAN.
<end>
CREATE A GROUP WITH THE KEY "-" ON THE NUMERIC KEY PAD.
<end>
DRAW A 0.4 X 0.4 SQUARE COLUMN IN YELLOW, THEN CROSS HATCH
IT IN THE COLOR RED.
LET US START BY CALLING THE FUNCTION "RECTANGLE".
<end>
PLACE THE CURSOR OVER AN INTERSECTION WITHIN THE GRID.
PRESS "0" TO ZERO THE COORDINATE OF THE CURSOR AT THAT
INTERSECTION.
MOVE CURSOR 20 CENTIMETERS AND MAKE THE COLUMN.
<end>
THIS TIME USE THE FUNCTION "GROUP WITH A WINDOW" AND
CREATE A GROUP.
<end>
GO TO THE GROUPS AREA BY PRESSING "5" AND SELECT FUNCTION
"SINGLE COPY" TO COPY A SINGLE GROUP.
<end>
TO SELECT A GROUP, ACTIVATE CURSOR TOUCHING ANY PART OF
THAT GROUP.
<end>
THE SELECTED GROUP TEMPORARILY CHANGES COLOR TO WHITE FOR
BETTER VISUAL IDENTIFICATION.
THEN PICK UP THAT GROUP BY ANY POINT ON THE SCREEN. A COPY
OF THAT GROUP ATTACHES TO THE CURSOR.
<end>
THE CENTER OF THE COLUMN WAS SELECTED. NOW MOVE THE COPY
TO PLACE IT AT ANOTHER INTERSECTION. BUT FIRST PRESS "9"
TO ACTIVATE THE "HOOKS", OR "CAPTURE" FUNCTION OF THE CURSOR
ENSURING THAT THE COPY IS PRECISELY PLACED AT THE INTER-
SECTION. THE SHAPE OF THE CURSOR CHANGES TO DISPLAY HOOKS
INDICATING THAT KEY "9", OR THE HOOKS ARE ACTIVE.
<end>
COPIES ARE DONE. TO EXIT THE "SINGLE COPY" COMMAND PRESS
KEY ".".
<end>
BACK TO THE CONSTRUCTION AREA BY PRESSING "5".
<end>
SELECT THE FUNCTION "FILLET" TO ROUND-OFF CORNERS OF PANEL.
THE RADIUS OF THE ARC IS SET TO 0.1 METERS.
<end>
MAKE THE PANEL INTO A GROUP WITH KEY "-".
<end>
AND NOW, AS DONE WITH THE COLUMN, THE PANEL IS COPIED.
<end>
ROTATION AND MIRROR OPTIONS OF "COPY RANDOM SINGLE" ARE
BEING USED TO ACHIEVE PROPER ORIENTATIONS.
<end>
NOW CALL EXPLODE, OR "SINGLE TRANSFER TO CONSTRUCTION AREA"
TO TRANSFER THE PANEL TO THE CONSTRUCTION AREA & MODIFY
IT SUCH THAT IT HAS A WINDOW BUILT INTO IT. REMEMBER:
IN THE CONSTRUCTION AREA SHAPES ARE CREATED AND MODIFIED;
IN THE GROUPS AREA SHAPES ARE COPIED, ERASED, SAVED, LOADED,
AND ASSEMBLED TO COMPOSE A DRAWING.
<end>
KEY "5" HAS BEEN PRESSED AND IN CONSTRUCTION AREA, THE
FUNCTION "ERASE WITH A CUTTING WINDOW" IS CALLED AND
PARTS OF THE PANEL ARE CUT & ERASED.
<end>
NOW USING "RECTANGLES" FUNCTION A GREEN WINDOW IS DRAWN.
<end>
A NEW GROUP IS MADE FROM THE NEW PANEL WITH WINDOW USING
"-" TRANSFERRING ALL THAT REMAINS UNGROUPED IN THE CONSTR-
UCTION AREA TO THE GROUPS AREA AS A NEW AND A UNIQUE GROUP.
<end>
PRESS "5" TO RETURN TO THE GROUPS AREA AND CALL THE FUNCTION
"COPY RANDOM WITH A COMPLETELY CONTAINED WINDOW" TO COPY A
NUMBER OF GROUPS COMPLETELY CONTAINED IN THE WINDOW, WHILE
MIRRORING THEM ABOUT THE Y-AXIS (VERTICAL AXIS).
<end>
AFTER DRAWING A WINDOW TO SELECT THE GROUPS A CONVENIENT
POINT IS SELECTED ABOUT WHICH A MIRROR COPY ALONG Y-AXIS
PRODUCES THE RIGHT RESULTS VERY SIMPLY.
<end>
PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE POINT THAT HAS BEEN SELECTED
WITH THE "HOOKS" (USING KEY "9") TO PROPERLY POSITION THE
MIRRORED COPY.
<end>
THE COPIED PANEL IS TOO SHORT. SELECT "STRETCH" COMMAND
FROM THE GROUPS AREA MENU. USING THIS COMMAND IS QUICKER
THAN TRANSFERRING THE PANEL TO CONSTRUCTION AREA, STRETCHING
IT, THEN GROUPING IT BACK TO THE GROUPS AREA.
<end>
IDENTIFY THE GROUP TO STRETCH.
<end>
DRAW A WINDOW THAT ENCOMPASSES THE CORNERS, LINE ENDS AND
INTERSECTIONS OF THE GROUP TO BE MOVED (STRETCHED).
<end>
SELECT A POINT USING THE HOOKS (KEY "9").
<end>
SELECT A SECOND POINT TO COMPLETE THE FUNCTION. NOTICE
THAT THE DIRECTION AND DISTANCE BETWEEN THE FIRST AND
THE SECOND POINT ARE THE VALUES BY WHICH THE PANEL WAS
STRETCHED.
<end>
NOW DRAW CENTER LINES OF WALLS BY SIMPLY TRACING IN PART
SOME EXISTING LINES ON THE SCREEN, EVENTHOUGH THE EXISTING
LINES ARE PART OF THE GRID IN THE GROUPS AREA.
<end>
NOW CHANGE COLOR AND SELECT THE FUNCTION "OFFSET".
<end>
THE "OFSET" SUBMENU HAS BEEN PRESELECTED. INSTEAD, NOW
SELECT THE OPTION "THICK" TO CREATE A THICKNESS AROUND
THE RED CENTER LINES OF WOULD BE WALLS. ("OFSET" SUBMENU
WOULD HAVE ALLOWED CREATING A THICKNESS TO ONE SIDE OF THE
CENTERLINES RATHER THAN BOTH SIDES).
<end>
ENCOMPASS THE RED CENTERLINES WITH A WINDOW.
<end>
A THICKNESS OF 0.1 METERS HAS BEEN ASSIGNED TO THE WALLS.
<end>
TO ERASE THE RED CENTERLINES WITHOUT ERASING THE YELLOW
WALLS, SIMPLY TURN OFF THE COLOR YELLOW.
<end>
THEN USING "ERASE CC" ERASE THE RED CENTERLINES WITH A
COMPLETELY CONTAINED WINDOW.
<end>
NOW TURN ON THE COLOR YELLOW.
<end>
TO ERASE THE SMALL LINES AT THE INTERSECTION OF TWO WALLS
SELECT "CUT USING WINDOW". INCLUDE WHAT IS TO BE CUT
AND ERASED INSIDE A WINDOW. THE WINDOW MAY BE A NORMAL
SQUARE IN SHAPE, OR AS A RECTANGLE WITHOUT A WIDTH, WHICH
APPEARS AS A WHITE LINE.
<end>
NOW TO ADD DOORS, CHAIRS, TABLES, ETC. SELECT THE "LOAD"
FUNCTION AND LOAD A DRAWING CONTAINING THE DESIRED
SYMBOLS.
<end>
THERE ARE THREE WAYS TO LOAD AN EXISTING DRAWING. WITH
THE SUBMENU "NEW", THE CURRENT CONTENTS OF THE SCREEN ARE
ERASED AND REPLACED BY THE NEW DRAWING.
<end>
WITH THE SUBMENU "MERGE" A DRAWING CAN BE LOADED AND ADDED
TO THE CURRENT CONTENTS OF THE SCREEN. WITH THE SUBMENU
"SCALE" A DRAWING CAN BE LOADED (MERGED) AT A LARGER, OR
A SMALLER SCALE.
<end>
IN THIS CASE SELECT THE SUBMENU "MERGE" TO LOAD A DRAWING
CONTAINING THE DESIRED SYMBOLS CALLED : SAMPLE2
<end>
THE "MERGE" FUNCTION ALLOWS A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE
DRAWING BEFORE IT IS MERGED WITH THE CURRENT CONTENTS
OF THE SCREEN. IF THE DRAWING TO BE MERGED (SAMPLE2) IS
THE CORRECT DRAWING, THEN THE CURSOR IS ACTIVATED ONCE TO
SELECT SAMPLE2, THEN ACTIVATED A SECOND TIME TO PLACE
SAMPLE2 AT THE DESIRED LOCATION ON THE SCREEN.
<end>
AS SOON AS THE CURSOR IS ACTIVATED ON SAMPLE2 THE CURRENT
DRAWING IS REDISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN.
NOW SAMPLE2 CAN BE PLACED ANYWHERE ON THE SCREEN WITH
RESPECT TO THE CURRENT CONTENTS OF THE SCREEN. THIS FEATURE
ALLOWS THE USER TO MAKE SURE THAT THE TWO DRAWINGS DO NOT
OVERLAP.
<end>
A COPY OF SAMPLE2 IS NOW ON THE SCREEN. THE ORIGINAL COPY
OF SAMPLE2 IS ON THE DISK UNTOUCHED.
<end>
THE FUNCTION "COPY RANDOM PICK" HAS BEEN SELECTED TO MAKE
COPIES OF A DOOR SYMBOL.
<end>
THE SUBMENU "CUTIT" HAS BEEN SELECTED TO CUT THE YELLOW
WALLS AT THE INSERTION POINT OF THE DOOR. NOTICE THAT
THE YELLOW WALLS ARE IN THE CONSTRUCTION AREA AND THE
GREEN DOORS ARE IN THE GROUPS AREA.
<end>
IF "CUTIT" IS NOT SELECTED, SIMPLY SELECT "CUT WITH WINDOW"
FROM THE ERASE SECTION OF THE CONSTRUCTION AREA MENU. USE
IT TO OBTAIN THE SAME RESULTS.
<end>
NOW GROUP THE WALLS IN THE CONSTRUCTION AREA.
<end>
LET US COPY SOME OF THE EXISTING GROUPS WITH A WINDOW USING
THE "COPY RANDOM CC".
NOTICE HOW THE WINDOW CONTAINS ONLY THE GROUPS TO BE COPIED
AND THE OTHER GROUPS ARE EXCLUDED FROM BEING COPIED BY NOT
COMPLETELY CONTAINING THEM.
<end>
NOW ERASE UNWANTED GROUPS.
<end>
NOW TO MODIFY THE AREAS FROM WHICH THE LAST GROUPS WERE
ERASED, TRANSFER THEM (EXPLODE) TO THE CONSTRUCTION AREA.
<end>
THE MODIFICATIONS ARE DONE. GROUP THEM.
<end>
CREATING AN ELEVATOR CAB. TO DO THIS "RECTANGLE" AND "CUT
WITH WINDOW" FUNCTIONS WERE USED.
NOW HATCH THE ELEVATOR IN RED.
<end>
TO UNDO THE EFFECTS OF THE LAST DRAWING FUNCTION SELECT
"UNDO" (RESET) FUNCTION.
<end>
MAKE A GROUP.
<end>
TO MAKE THE STAIRS, DUPLICATE THE LINE USING THE FUNCTION
"LINEAR COPY" (SELECTED ELEMENT IS COPIED MANY TIMES IN
A SPECIFIC DIRECTION WITH A SPECIFIC DISTANCE BETWEEN EACH
COPY).
<end>
WITH A WINDOW, THE LINE TO BE COPIED IN A LINEAR FASHION
HAS BEEN SELECTED. NOTICE THAT NONE OF THE OTHER LINES
WITHIN THIS WINDOW ARE SELECTED SINCE THEY ARE IN THE
GROUPS AREA. TWO POINTS ARE SELECTED, WHERE THE DISTANCE
AND DIRECTION BETWEEN THEM ESTABLISHES THE DISTANCE AND
DIRECTION BETWEEN ALL COPIES OF THE LINE.
<end>
A THIRD POINT COMMUNICATES TO THE SYSTEM THE LOCATION OF
THE LAST COPY OF THE LINE, AS MANY COPIES OF THE LINE
BETWEEN THE FIRST AND THE LAST POINT ARE DRAWN.
<end>
USING "COPY RANDOM WITH COMPLETELY CONTAINED WINDOW" THE
OTHER SIDE OF THE STAIR CASE IS SIMPLY COPIED & MIRRORED.
<end>
TO ERASE THESE LITTLE BITS OF LINE LET US USE A NEW AND
A VERY USEFUL FUNCTION CALLED "ERASE BETWEEN 2 POINTS".
<end>
TO CREATE A STAIR EFFECT, OFFSET FUNCTION IS USED USING
THE SUBMENU "OFSET". TOUCH A LINE TO CREATE THE OFFSET.
<end>
A VALUE OF 30 CENTIMETERS (0.3 METERS) SPECIFIED WHICH
APPLIES TO EACH STAIR.
<end>
LET US CREATE A FLOOR COVERING PATTERN. TO STAR WITH,
LET US CREATE AN OUTLINE DEFINING THE AREA TO RECEIVE
THE FLOOR COVERING.
<end>
NOW LET US MAKE THIS OUTLINE INTO A GROUP.
<end>
HERE IS A REPEATABLE FLOOR COVERING PATTERN.
<end>
NOW LET US MAKE THIS REPEATABLE PATTERN INTO A GROUP.
<end>
SELECT THE FUNCTION "PATTERNS".
<end>
IDENTIFY THE GROUP TO BE FILLED, i.e. THE OUTLINE.
<end>
IDENTIFY THE REPEATABLE PATTERN TO FILL THE PRECEDING
AREA JUST SELECTED.
<end>
ASSIGN AN ORIGIN.
<end>
WITH RESPECT TO THE ORIGIN, ASSIGN A HORIZONTAL DISTANCE FOR
EACH REPEATABLE PATTERN.
<end>
WITH RESPECT TO THE ORIGIN, ASSIGN A VERTICAL DISTANCE FOR
THE REPEATABLE PATTERN.
<end>
LET US SPECIFY LEVEL 20 FOR THIS GROUP.
<end>
LET US REDO THE PATTERN WITH A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT SPACING.
<end>
TURN OFF LEVEL 20
<end>
FIRST CHANGE THE WORK LEVEL FROM 20 TO 21.
<end>
THE FLOOR PATTERN DISAPPEARS.
NOW LET US DO A NEW FLOOR PATTERN.
<end>
THIS GROUP WILL BE ON LEVEL 21.
<end>
HERE IS A NEW FLOOR COVERING PATTERN.
<end>
AT THIS TIME THERE ARE TWO FLOOR COVERING PATTERNS IN THE
SAME SPACE. THE SQUARE PATTERN ON LEVEL 20 NOT SEEN AND
THE OTHER PATTERN ON LEVEL 21 CURRENTLY IN DISPLAY. TO
SELECT THE DESIRED FLOOR PATTERN, PERTINENT LEVELS CAN BE
TURNED ON AND OFF.
<end>
LET US CHANGE THE CURRENT LEVEL TO ANOTHER NUMBER SINCE THE
CURRENT LEVEL CANNOT BE TURNED OFF.
<end>
IT IS CERTAINLY POSSIBLE TO SEE BOTH LEVELS SIMULTANEOUSLY,
HOWEVER, IT CAN BE A BIT CONFUSING.
<end>
LET US ERASE THE SQUARE PATTERN AND KEEP THE OTHER PATTERN.
<end>
CHANGE THE WORK LEVEL TO 20 AND TURN OFF THE RED HALF OF
ALL LEVELS.
<end>
IN THIS MODE ALL LEVELS WHOSE RED COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN
TURNED OFF ARE PROTECTED FROM ALL SYSTEM EDIT FUNCTIONS
SUCH AS ERASE, MOVE, COPY, ETC. ONLY LEVEL 20 CAN BE
EDITED. THE GREEN COMPONENT OF EACH LEVEL INDICATES
WHETHER OR NOT THAT LEVEL IS DISPLAYED.
<end>
ERASE USING WINDOW HAS BEEN SELECTED.
<end>
COMPLETELY CONTAINING ALL IN THE WINDOW WILL ONLY EFFECT
THE CONTENTS OF LEVEL 20 SINCE THE RED COMPONENT OF THE
REMAINING LEVELS IS TURNED OFF.
<end>
NOW LET US REACTIVATE ALL LEVELS.
<end>
DONE.
THIS MATRIX ALSO INDICATES WHICH LEVELS CONTAIN GROUPS.
NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN THE APPEARANCE OF THE LEVELS
001 AND 021.
<end>
LET US DIMENSION THIS DRAWING USING THE AUTOMATIC
DIMENSIONING FUNCTION.
<end>
SELECT "INLIN" (IN LINE) DIMENSIONS FROM THE SUBMENU.
<end>
SPECIFY 2 DIGITS AFTER THE DECIMAL POINTS.
<end>
USE UNDO TO ERASE THE LAST DIMENSION. IN THIS CASE
THE INTENTION IS TO DEMONSTRATE THE PROCEDURE FOR
CHANGING THE COLOR OF THE DIMENSION.
<end>
TO DIMENSION THE ROOM ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DRAWING
WE NEED TO QUICKLY POSITION OURSELVES IN ON THE OTHER
SIDE OF THE DRAWING. TO DO THIS LET US UPDATE THE
OVERVIEW IMAGE (TO SEE THE ENTIRE DRAWING) BY PRESSING
THE "F1" KEY.
<end>
THE OUTLINE OF THE SCREEN WAS MOVED TO THE DESIRED AREA,
AND THE KEY "6" WAS PRESSED TO DISPLAY THAT AREA ON THE
SCREEN SUCH THAT IT CAN BE WORKED ON IN DETAIL.
<end>
NOW TO PUT SOME TEXT ON THE DRAWING. TO MOVE QUICKLY
AROUND THE SCREEN WE SHALL USE KEY "6" SEVERAL TIMES.
PRESSING "6" DISPLAYS THE OVERVIEW SCREEN AND ALLOWS
THE SCREEN OUTLINE TO BE MOVED TO ANY PART OF THE OVER-
VIEW SCREEN. THE SECOND TIME KEY "6" IS PRESSED THE AREA
INDICATED BY THE WHITE OULINE IS DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN.
<end>
NOW LET US UPDATE THE OVERVIEW SCREEN WITH "F1".
<end>
REMEMBER: "F1" UPDATES THE OVERVIEW SCREEN DISPLAYING THE
ENTIRE CONTENTS OF THE SCREEN. KEY "6" TOGGLES THE DISPLAY
BETWEEN THE OVERVIEW AND THE DETAIL SCREEN.
<end>
THE IS THE END OF THIS TUTORIAL 005. YOU MAY SELECT ANOTHER
LESSON FROM THE FOLLOWING LIST.
<end>
