  17. LWG42L.EXE is the current maintenance patch for Lan WorkGroup 4.2.  It is
  18. recommended for all sites using LAN WorkGroup 4.2.

  28. SYMPTOM
  29.  
  30. 1. Creating a sub-network profile to support either FDDI_SNAP or
  31. IBM_PCN2_SNAP, and creating a static IP address for a specific workstation in
  32. the IP Address Assignment field of LWGCON, caused the following error when
  33. UNISTART.NCF was invoked:
  34.  
  35. Error:  Incorrect hardware address in entry <workstation name> 
  36. Error in parsing table.  Bootp server unloaded.
  37.  
  38. 2. Continuously adding and deleting workstations in the IP ADDRESS ASSIGNMENT
  39. Field would cause either:
  40. - an ABEND of the Server 
  41. or 
  42. - the information on the workstation being viewed contained a differnt
  43. workstation's; name, IP address, and MAC address.

  57. Apply LWG42L.EXE.
  58.  
  59. Installation Instructions:
  60. 1. Invoke UNISTOP.
  61. 2. Make a copy of your current BOOTPD.NLM and LWGCON.NLM.
  62. 3. Copy the files in LWG42L over the same named files in SYS:SYSTEM.
  63. 4. Invoke UNISTART.

  66. This is the first patch for LAN WorkGroup 4.2.

  68. Solution Details:

  70. Symptom #1
  71. BOOTPD.NLM has been modified because it did not properly support the FRAME
  72. types of FDDI_SNAP and IBM_PCN2_SNAP, even though they were in the supported
  73. FRAME list.

  75. Symptom #2
  76. LWGCON.NLM has been modified because the pointer to a linked list (which
  77. contains the workstation information, i.e. workstation name, ip address, MAC
  78. address, sub-network profile) was not being updated.
