  16.  (WSOS21.EXE) contains the installation program, (WSOS22.EXE)
  17.  contains the requester files, (WSOS23.EXE) contains the Windows
  18.  libraries and RPL files, (WSDRV1.EXE) contains the LAN drivers,
  19.  (OS2UT1.EXE) contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON utilities,
  20.  (OS2DC1.EXE) contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF
  21.  format, and (OS2VMB.EXE) contains the VLM Boot diskette image.

  283.  INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS for the NetWare Client for OS/2 version
  284.  2.11
  285.  
  286.  This client product supports all OS/2 2.x releases made before
  287.  December 19, 1994, and replaces all previous 2.x versions of
  288.  the NetWare Client for OS/2.
  289.  
  290.  NOTE: If you have OS/2 1.3, you need to obtain the NetWare
  291.  Requester 1.3 for OS/2 instead of this product.
  292.  
  293.  The NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11 consists of seven
  294.  self-extracting files: WSOS21.EXE contains the installation
  295.  program WSOS22.EXE contains the requester files WSOS23.EXE
  296.  contains the Windows libraries and RPL files WSDRV1.EXE
  297.  contains the LAN drivers OS2UT1.EXE contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP,
  298.  CX, SYSCON utilities OS2DC1.EXE contains the electronic
  299.  documentation in OS/2 IPF format OS2VMB.EXE contains the VLM
  300.  Boot diskette image
  301.  
  302.  Once these files are downloaded, there are 3 methods that can
  303.  be used to complete the installation of the NetWare Client for
  304.  OS/2 version 2.11:
  305.  
  306.  Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  307.  
  308.  Method 2: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From
  309.  Diskettes
  310.  
  311.  Method 3: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  312.  
  313.  Instructions for each method follow.
  314.  
  315.  *********
  316.  Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  317.  
  318.  NOTE:     You must have a version of the NetWare Client
  319.  software already installed on your workstation and be connected
  320.  to the network in order to use this install method.  You cannot
  321.  install to and from the same drive. Example: You cannot install
  322.  from C: to C:
  323.  
  324.  1.   To install the NetWare Client software to your hard disk,
  325.  you must have adequate disk space to allow for the client to
  326.  install. (about 4 MB)
  327.  
  328.  2.   At the network drive, create a directory called TEMP.
  329.  This directory can be deleted later.
  330.  
  331.       Example:  At the J:\ prompt, type
  332.  
  333.            MD TEMP
  334.  
  335.  3.   Extract WSOS21.EXE, WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE,
  336.  OS2UT1.EXE, and OS2DC1.EXE into the TEMP directory.  The self
  337.  extracting file will automatically create the required
  338.  subdirectories.  Change to the directory where WSOS21.EXE,
  339.  WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, and OS2DC1.EXE
  340.  reside.  DO NOT change to the TEMP directory.
  341.  
  342.       Example:  At the command line, type
  343.  
  344.            WSOS21 J:\TEMP\
  345.  
  346.  Do this for each self extracting file in turn.  This will
  347.  extract all the files into the TEMP subdirectory.
  348.  
  349.  4.   In an OS/2 Command Line Session, CD into the TEMP
  350.  directory and type INSTALL.  The NetWare Client for OS/2
  351.  Installation screen will appear. Follow the instructions that
  352.  appear on the screen to install the NetWare Requester on the
  353.  workstation. NOTE: Make sure and place the local disk drive
  354.  letter as the target directory.
  355.  
  356.  5.   Delete your TEMP directory if desired.
  357.

  359.  Method 2: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  360.  
  361.  1.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  362.  
  363.  2.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  364.       Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  365.       Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  366.       Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  367.       Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  368.       Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  369.       Disk 6    OS2DOC_1
  370.  
  371.       Example:  At the command line, type
  372.  
  373.            Label A: WSOS2_1
  374.  
  375.  2.   Extract the .EXE files to their corresponding diskettes.
  376.  The correct directory structure will be created automatically
  377.  on the diskettes. Self-extract WSOS21.EXE onto WSOS2_1,
  378.  WSOS22.EXE onto WSOS2_2, etc.
  379.  
  380.       Example:  At the command line, type
  381.  
  382.            WSOS21 A:
  383.  
  384.  3.   After creating the six diskettes, insert the disk labeled
  385.  WSOS2_1 diskette in drive A.
  386.  
  387.  4.   Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the
  388.  INSTALL.EXE program. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install
  389.  screen appears.
  390.  
  391.  5.   Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual
  392.  to complete the install.

  395.  Method 3: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From
  396.  Diskettes
  397.  
  398.  1.   Create the following subdirectories on your hard disk:
  399.  WSOS2_1, WSOS2_2, WSOS2_3, WSDRV_1, OS2UTIL_1, and OS2DOC_1.
  400.  
  401.       Example:  At the C:\ prompt, type
  402.  
  403.            MD WSOS2_1
  404.  
  405.  2.   Extract the .EXE files into their corresponding
  406.  subdirectories, the correct directory structure will be created
  407.  in each subdirectory.  WSOS21.EXE into WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE into
  408.  WSOS2_2, etc.
  409.  
  410.       Example:  At the command line, type
  411.  
  412.            WSOS21 C:\WSOS2_1\
  413.  
  414.  3.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  415.  
  416.  4.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  417.       Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  418.       Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  419.       Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  420.       Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  421.       Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  422.       Disk 6    OS2DOC_1

  424.  Example:  At the command line, type

  426.            Label A: WSOS2_1
  427.  
  428.  5.   Insert diskette labelled WSOS2_1 into drive A:.
  429.  
  430.  6.   Change directory to WSOS2_1 on your hard disk.
  431.  
  432.  7.   Type the following at the command line:
  433.  
  434.            XCOPY *.* /S /E /V A:
  435.  
  436.  8.   Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the remaining five diskettes.
  437.  Ensure that the files are copied from the correct directory to
  438.  the corresponding labelled diskettes.
  439.  
  440.  9.   After creating the six diskettes, insert WSOS2_1 diskette
  441.  in drive A.
  442.  
  443.  10.  Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the
  444.  INSTALL.EXE program. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen
  445.  appears.
  446.  
  447.  11.  Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to
  448.  complete the install.
  449.

  451.  SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR VLM BOOT
  452.  
  453.  OS2VMB.EXE contains a DOS boot image file and a Novell DOS 7
  454.  image utility (DISKCOPY.COM).
  455.  
  456.  IMPORTANT:  DISKCOPY.COM can only be run from an actual DOS
  457.  workstation, not from an OS/2 DOS session.
  458.  
  459.  Instructions for Creating the VLM Boot Diskette:
  460.  
  461.  1.  On the actual DOS workstation, create a subdirectory named
  462.  VLMBOOT.
  463.  
  464.  2.  Copy OS2VMB.EXE to the newly created VLMBOOT directory.
  465.  
  466.  3.  Extract OS2VMB.EXE by running it.
  467.  
  468.  4.  Insert a 1.44 MB formatted diskette into drive A:.
  469.  
  470.  5.  Change to the VLMBOOT subdirectory.
