  4. You may only use ScreamSaver for a maximum of 14 days
  5. after which you will need to buy a licence to continue
  6. using it and obtain a password from us within this time
  7. which will allow it to keep running.

  23. (N.B.  If you have previously installed the 
  24. demonstration of ScreamSaver, please un-install it 
  25. before installing this version.  Please read the 
  26. current help file or see the Uninstall section of 
  27. this file for details.)

  29. 1.    Print out this page for easier reference 
  30. before installing ScreamSaver.  These instructions 
  31. may seem long but they are very simple to perform and 
  32. are explained in great detail and clarity for your 
  33. benefit and ease of use.  You will find that they are 
  34. easy and quick to follow.
  35.  
  36. 2.    Install ScreamSaver:
  37.  
  38. In Windows 3:
  39. In File Manager, find the directory where the ScreamSaver
  40. files were extracted to and run "setup.exe" by double-
  41. clicking it with your mouse.
  42.  
  43. In Windows 95:
  44. In Windows Explorer, find the directory where the ScreamSaver
  45. files were extracted to and run "setup.exe" by double-
  46. clicking it with your mouse.
  47.

  49. Follow the instructions which appear on your screen.
  50. Please use the default settings unless 
  51. you have a particular reason not to.  Please write down 
  52. the name of the directory where you have installed 
  53. ScreamSaver if you choose another directory.
  54.  
  55. Starting ScreamSaver when opening Windows (optional):
  56. During the installation process you are 
  57. asked if you want ScreamSaver to automatically start up 
  58. when you open Windows. Please select Yes or No.
  59. P.S. You can do this later from within the program.

  62. 3.    Close down Windows, turn your computer off and 
  63. then restart it again.
  64.  
  65. 4.    Run ScreamSaver:
  66. Run ScreamSaver in the same way that you would run 
  67. any other program:
  68.  
  69. In Windows 3: Find the ScreamSaver group and run the
  70. ScreamSaver icon.
  71. In Windows 95: Press the START button, select PROGRAMS,
  72. select the 'ScreamSaver' group and select the 
  73. ScreamSaver icon.
  74.  
  75. The ScreamSaver screen will then appear.  
  76. It will not do anything until the specified time is 
  77. up when it will reappear to prompt you to take a break.
  78. If you want you can change the settings by using the 
  79. settings button.  Read the help file for more 
  80. information by pressing the "F1" button at any time.

  82. This version will run for 14 days.

  102. B.    Troubleshooting the installation of ScreamSaver
  103.  
  104. If you experience an error with installing ScreamSaver,
  105. please ensure that you have closed down all other 
  106. programs while you are installing it. Some programs 
  107. such as virus checkers and Microsoft Office can cause
  108. installation problems.
  109.  
  110. To see what programs you have got running and to be 
  111. able to close them down you should:
  112.  
  113. In Windows 3.x:    Press the CONTROL and ESCAPE keys at 
  114.         the same time
  115. In Windows 95:  Press the CONTROL and the ALT and the 
  116.         DELETE keys at the same time ONCE only.
  117.         You will then see a list of programs 
  118.         which are open.  
  119.  
  120. Select the ones you want to close down and press the 
  121. END TASK button.  
  122.  
  123. (Please note that you should not close down "Program 
  124. Manager" or "Explorer".)
  125.  
  126. (N.B. If you are concerned about closing down a virus 
  127. checker then first scan these disks before doing so.)
  128.  
  129. If you are told that there has been a conflict in 
  130. running the installation package but you have checked 
  131. that no other files are open, please exit and restart 
  132. Windows and try again after closing down the extra 
  133. programs again.  Unfortunately Windows has some 
  134. problems with it and very occasionally this has had 
  135. to be done to install properly.

  145. C.    How to un-install ScreamSaver
  146.  
  147. If you need to un-install ScreamSaver (eg at the end 
  148. of your evaluation period) then this is how you do it:
  149.  
  150. In Windows 3.x:
  151.  
  152. Delete the ScreamSaver program group and icons by 
  153. selecting them and pressing the delete button.
  154.  
  155. If you have setup ScreamSaver to run automatically 
  156. when you enter Windows, then you must delete the icon
  157. in your StartUp group in Program Manager
  158.  
  159. Find and delete the directory where the ScreamSaver 
  160. files were installed.
  161.

  163. Windows manual.

  166. In Windows 95:
  167.  
  168. In the Control Panel section you will have a section 
  169. for adding and removing applications.  Use this section
  170. to remove ScreamSaver.
