Color Text Terminal - HELP FILE
VERSION 1.1
(12/28/96 - 11:00PM)
------------------------------------
Color Text Terminal (CTT) is a PIL script for use with PIRCH 0.90a. An
easy to use GUI interface, relieves you of having to type the monotonous
color and attribute codes. As you enter a line of text, you can change
to different foreground and background colors, as well as change the
attributes of the text.
The following is a brief description of each feature:
FOREGROUND (TEXT) COLOR BUTTONS:
--------------------------------
Choose your preferred color, then click on the corresponding number and
CTT will append a CONTROL-K and the number into the Editor window.
BACKGROUND COLOR BUTTONS:
-------------------------
Choose your preferred color, then click on the corresponding number and
CTT will do one of three things:
If the preceding text in the editor field is a foreground color code,
CTT will append a comma, and the preferred background number into the
Editor window.
If the preceding text is NOT a foreground color code, CTT will append a
CONTROL-K, the number of the last used foreground color, a comma, and the
preferred background number into the Editor window.
If you have just started the script, OR you have just clicked the CLEAR
or SEND buttons, CTT will set the default foreground color code to 1
(black). CTT will then append a CONTROL-K, the default foreground color,
a comma, and the preferred background number into the Editor window.
EDITOR WINDOW:
--------------
The Editor window shows the current text (in raw format) as it is entered
into the window. Clicking the Editor window enables you to add your text
that will accompany the colors you have chosen.
ATTRIBUTE BUTTONS:
------------------
BOLD-Clicking the BOLD button will insert a CONTROL-B into the Editor window.
Clicking a second time turns the attribute off.
UNDERLINE-Clicking the UNDERLINE button will insert a CONTROL-U into the
Editor window. Clicking a second time turns the attirbute off.
ITALICS-Clicking the ITALICS button will insert a CONTROL-I into the Editor
window. Clicking a second time turns the attribute off.
FIXED-Clicking the FIXED button will insert a CONTROL-F into the Editor
window, setting the text to a fixed font. Clicking a second time turns
the attribute off.
SYMBOL-Clicking the SYMBOL button will insert a CONTROL-S into the Editor
window. Clicking a second time turns the attribute off.
CONTROL-K-Clicking the CONTROL-K button will insert a CONTROL-K into the
Editor window. This is useful if you need to reset the color codes, etc.
*** YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CLICK THIS BUTTON TO ADD COLORS TO YOUR TEXT ***
OTHER BUTTONS:
--------------
CLEAR-Clicking the CLEAR button will clear the Editor Window of ALL TEXT
AND CODES. Basically, you start from scratch. (If you make a mistake
well into the line, just position the cursor with the mouse, and edit you
mistake. Although, please keep in mind, the buttons only insert codes AT
THE END of the line of text).
LAST-Clicking the LAST button will recall the last line sent with CTT.
This is useful if the colors you sent looked awful or you wish to edit the
line further.
SEND-Clicking the SEND button will send your text to the active channel,
or window (will not work with DCC, I don't think) and display it on your
screen. After sending the text to the channel, the Editor window will
clear, and you can do it all again! Hitting the RETURN key will also send
the text to the channel window.
PRESETS:
--------
Clicking on one of the presets (Smile, Frown, Blah!, Wink, Tears, Heart,
and Rose) will insert the color codes and text to do each of the
corresponding presets.
PROBLEMS AND/OR BUGS:
---------------------
None reported.
FUTURE VERSION:
---------------
We are currently working on a PREVIEW mode, so you can see, in COLOR, what
you are about to send to the channel or msg window! We have some other
ideas, but nothing we can discuss here. :) If you have any ideas you would
like added to the PIL, you can find me (Slobokan) most of the time now in
#Pirch, and in my own channel #SloPace on the UNDERNET. You can also reach
me via E-MAIL at renegade@surferdude.com .
AUTHORS:

Slobokan (WITH A LOTA HELP FROM ^Shadow^ ).
OTHER:
------
You are more than welcome to modify this PIL script in any way you see fit.
If you intend on passing it on to other people, we request that you send
the un-modified version, so we can better help people with any questions.
Also, if you use the color bitmap in another pil, please give me (Slobokan)
credit for the work...
