  12. Steve Hardcastle-Kille presented the most significant changes with
  13. respect to the one-before-last version of the Internet Draft on mapping
  14. between X.400 (1988)/ISO 10021 and RFC 822 (aka RFC-1148bis).  These are
  15. summarized in Appendix J.
  16.  
  17. Discussion:

  19. There was a short discussion on the effects of X.400 addresses encoded
  20. (on purpose or by accident) in DDA.RFC-822.  The conclusion was that
  21. gateways should be able to cope with this by unpacking the address from
  22. the DDA, and then resubmitting the address to their tables.  In a really
  23. good gateway, the body of the message will in such a case not be
  24. converted from X.400 to RFC 822 and back again.  Steve explained the
  25. proper use of the gateway table.

  29. The attendees unanimously agreed that the recommendation from this
  30. meeting was to proceed the Internet Draft on Mapping between
  31. X.400(1988)/ISO 10021 and RFC 822 to the RFC status.

  33. This document has also been reviewed by RARE Working Group 1 in Europe,
  34. and the Chair of Working Group 1 was present at this meeting.  This
  35. editing meeting was also given authority by the X.400 Operations Working
  36. Group, which met earlier on the same day.
