  6. Minutes of the Structured Text Interchange Format BOF (STIF)
  7.  
  8. STIF is a proposal for a syntax to permit text-based specification of
  9. labeled and hierachically-structured data.  It tries to serve the dual
  10. goal of information interchange and easy human specification.  Personal
  11. Contact Information (PCI) is a related specification which uses STIF for
  12. encoding business-card (Rolodex) descriptions.  The Amsterdam BOF was
  13. held to discuss IETF interest in pursuing such work.  Two
  14. Internet-Drafts have been posted.  The BOF consisted mostly of
  15. discussion about the nature of STIF and PCI, with some useful technical
  16. comments offered by the audience, as well as the beginnings of a debate
  17. about the alternatives.

  19. There is clear interest in this realm of work.  The Application Area
  20. Directors have expressed interest in pursuing only one out of several
  21. alternatives, and discussions about the alternatives have begun.
