  7. Minutes of the Border Gateway Protocol Working Group (BGP)
  8.  
  9. The BGP Working Group met twice on Monday, November 16, 1992, and
  10. discussed the following issues:

  12. BGP-4 Editorial Change
  13.  
  14. The Working Group approved minor editorial change to the BGP-4 protocol
  15. specifications suggested by Yakov Rekhter.  The revised text of the
  16. Internet-Draft will be posted shortly.

  18. BGP MIB
  19.  
  20. It was pointed out that there are differences between MIB for BGP-3 and
  21. MIB for BGP-4.  The Working Group decided to get a new OID for the
  22. bgpPathAttrEntry object.  It is expected that BGP-3 MIB will eventually
  23. be deprecated.

  25. BGP-4 Implementation
  26.  
  27. Dennis Ferguson (ANS) discussed his implementation of BGP-4 in GATED. It
  28. is expected that ANSNet will be running BGP-4 1Q93.  A copy of the
  29. presentation should be available upon request from Dennis.

  31. BGP and IPAE/SIP
  32.  
  33. The Working Group met jointly with several key members of the IPAE/SIP
  34. Working Group to discuss a possibility of supporting IPAE/SIP
  35. inter-domain routing with BGP. The Group suggested that inter-domain
  36. routing with IPAE/SIP should not be supported by BGP, but rather should
  37. be accommodated by IDRP. The rationale for this recommendation was based
  38. on the urgency of deploying BGP-4, unwillingness to change BGP-4
  39. protocol specifications, and the overall consensus that IDRP is more
  40. suitable (than BGP) as an inter-domain routing protocol for IPAE/SIP.
