  36. The Inter-Domain Routing Working Group is chartered to standardize and
  37. promote the Border Gateway Protocol Version 4 (BGP-4) and ISO
  38. Inter-Domain Routing Protocol (IDRP) as scalable inter-autonomous
  39. system routing protocols capable of supporting policy based routing for
  40. TCP/IP internets.   The objective is to promote the use of BGP-4 to
  41. support IP version 4 (IPv4).  IDRP is seen as a protocol that will
  42. support IPv4 as well as the next generation of IP (IPv6).
  43.  
  44. The working group will plan a smooth transition between BGP-4 and
  45. IDRP.

  49. 1) BGP-4 (standards track)

  51.    This document contains the specification of the BGP protocol that
  52.    enables it to be used as a protocol for exchange of ``inter-autonomous 
  53.    system information'' among routers to support forwarding
  54.    of IPv4 packets across multiple autonomous systems.

  56. 2) BGP-4 MIB (standards track)
  57.    
  58.    This document contains the MIB definitions for BGP-4.
  59.  
  60. 3) IDRP for IPv4/IPv6 (standards track)
  61.  
  62.    This document contains the appropriate adaptations of the IDRP
  63.    protocol definition that enables it to be used as a protocol for
  64.    exchange of ``inter-autonomous system information'' among routers to
  65.    support forwarding of IPv4 or IPv6 packets across multiple
  66.    autonomous systems.

  70.    This document contains the MIB definitions for IDRP.

  72. 5) BGP/IDRP -- OSPF Interactions (standards track)

  74.    This document will specify the interactions between BGP/IDRP and
  75.    OSPF. This document will be based on a combination of the BGP - OSPF
  76.    interactions, and IDRP - IS-IS interaction documents.

  78. 6) BGP/IDRP Usage (standards track)

  80.    Most of BGP/IDRP Usage document will reference the CIDR
  81.    (supernetting) RFCs and related Internet-Drafts. IDRP Usage will
  82.    contain a sample policy configuration language and examples on how
  83.    to use IDRP in the Internet today.

  85. 7) BGP-4 to IDRP v6 Transition (standards track)

  87.    This document will provide information on how to transition between
  88.    BGP-4 and IDRP v6 networks.
