  9. Two primary tasks were accomplished at the May IETF.
  10.  
  11. One, the specification for LPR will be modified to support cacheless
  12. clients and servers by allowing the control file to be submitted before
  13. the data file and by allowing graceful end of connection instead of a
  14. field length to show end of file.  In addition, control file lines
  15. beginning with 'A' and 'a' will be reserved for possible future use with
  16. Palladium.

  18. Two, that use of Palladium, the Project Athena printing protocol, was
  19. seen as a good, long term, goal for printing in the Internet.  As part
  20. of the Palladium 2.0 efforts currently under way, the Project Athena
  21. implementation (likely to be the future reference implementation) will
  22. be modified to support LPR clients.  A RFC describing the printing
  23. protocol specific portions of Palladium is forthcoming.
