  28. Welcome to the comp.fonts FAQ.  This article, posted monthly, describes many
  29. of the basic questions that seem to be repeated frequently on comp.fonts.
  30. Your comments are both welcome and encouraged.

  32. The FAQ is divided into sections.  The first section is a general overview.
  33. The remaining sections are more-or-less platform specific.  The FAQ is posted
  34. in pieces to avoid clobbering news and/or mail gateways that are incapable
  35. of handling arbitrarily large items.

  48. Even if you don't use a particular architecture, you may find it helpful to
  49. read the FAQ for that platform at least once.  Some ideas, like font format
  50. conversion, may be relevant to more than one platform even if they are
  51. expressed in platform-specific tools at this time.

  53. After the FAQ is more stable, monthly DIFFs will be posted as well as the
  54. complete FAQ.

  58. fonts (both commercial and shareware), I have taken the liberty of merging
  59. those suggestions into a single vendor list.  If there are any errors in
