  4. HIGHLY IMPORTANT NOTICE

  6.  Xteq X-Setup requires some Scripting system files
  7.  to work properly. If these files are not installed, 
  8.  X-Setup will not function properly!
  9.  
  10.  See "REQUIRED FILES" for more information.

  13. INSTALLING XTEQ X-SETUP
  14.  
  15.  To install Xteq X-Setup, extract all files from the 
  16.  archive to a directory and start SETUP.EXE.
  17.  
  18.  After Setup has finished, this directory can be
  19.  deleted.

  22. REQUIRED FILES
  23.  
  24.  Xteq X-Setup requires some of the Microsoft
  25.  Scripting system files. If you are using Internet 
  26.  Explorer 4.0 (or above), Windows 98 or 2000, you 
  27.  have all needed files.

  29.  Else you need to install the Microsoft Scripting 
  30.  Engine, which can be obtained for free from the 
  31.  following URL:

  43.  To remove this program, use the Control Panel - 
  44.  "Add/Remove Programs" icon.

  47. KNOWN ISSUES
  48.  
  49. - On Windows NT/2000 machines, it can happen that the 
  50.   automatic restart of the computer fails. 
  51.  
  52. - If you are using a user account that hasn't full 
  53.   permissions to the system (e.g. "Guest"), some 
  54.   plug-ins might behave unexpectedly. For example, if 
  55.   the account does not have "read" access to some 
  56.   parts of the registry, some plug-ins can be disabled 
  57.   that would normally be enabled. Also, if the account
  58.   does not have "write" access, applying a plug-in can 
  59.   result in an error message "Unable to write XXX to 
  60.   the registry".

  62.   Resolution: Login to an Administrator account for 
  63.   full access to all plug-ins
  64.  
  65. - The cache feature of X-Setup does not harm you in 
  66.   any way if you develop custom plug-ins or wizards, 
  67.   but it won't detect it if you rename a plug-in file 
  68.   without updating the time-stamp. In this case, 
  69.   please use "Read all (no cache)" from the "File" 
  70.   menu to force the cache to be refreshed.

  73. NOTICE ABOUT INSTALLATION
  74.  
  75.  According to the new Windows 2000 app spec, X-Setup
  76.  does no longer install anything to the \WINDOWS or 
  77.  \SYSTEM directory.
  78.  
  79.  The only exception to this is "XQXSetup.CPL" because 
  80.  it must be installed to \SYSTEM to appear inside the 
  81.  Control Panel. Also, the X-Setup icon is now placed 
  82.  directly in your START menu.
  83.

  85.  a network server, please see the \network directory 
  86.  below the X-Setup folder.
