Sound is made by vibrating objects. The number of times the object vibratesΓÇöor moves back and forthΓÇöis called the frequency of the sound. The highness or lowness of the sound is called the pitch of the sound. As the frequency increases, the pitch of the sound gets higher.
When a harp string is plucked, the string vibrates and creates the sound you hear. This sound can be represented as a curved line, or wave. A wavelength is the distance between one crest, or high point, and the next crest. The faster the harp string vibrates, the greater the number of wavelengths per second.
