Anyway, E.B. is determined to retrieve said items, and is voyaging into the Bunties' Lair to find them.
Your job is to guide E.B. around their domain and help him recover things which have great sentimenal value to him, even though they're probably not worth much really.
Happy now?
Pâques: Machine Requirements
Pâques will run on any Acorn machine running RISC OS 3.00 and above, with 1Mb of memory or above.
You will need a monitor capable of displaying a VGA resolution mode.
RISC OS 2 users may be able to run Pâques, I haven't tested it with RISC OS 2. If you have trouble, try running the RunGame file after first issuing the command *SetEval Paques$Options 35
Please make sure that the !Pâques directory is located on a writable medium, otherwise the high score table will not save.
Pâques: Starting Pâques
To run Pâques, simply double click on the !Pâques icon, and an icon will appear on the desktop icon bar.
Clicking select over this icon will launch the main game.
Alternatively clicking menu over this icon will bring up a menu. This allows access to the 'info' window, the 'options' window, the 'high scores' window, and allows you to launch the main game, and remove the Pâques icon from the icon bar.
The 'options' window has options to turn off and on the sound, and also to specify 'simple sound'. When this is active no sound will result from eating a 'dot' or 'power pill'.
The 'enhanced' option makes the game more difficult by adding extra meanies in the higher levels. There are more different types of score bonuses too.
The 'nastier' option makes power pills last for less time, and the meanies more difficult to avoid.
The 'VSync Rate' slider allows you to change the speed at which the main game runs. Setting this to a higher speed will slow down the game.
At the end of a game, you are returned to the desktop, and if you have scored enough points, the high score table is opened for you to type your name into.
Press return or or click 'dismiss' to enter your name. This table is stored on disc, and restored the next time you play Pâques.
Pâques: Game Objective
The main game screen consists of a maze of blue walls, with yellow dots between the walls. Your objective is to guide the yellow 'Easter Bitz' creature around the maze, collecting the dots. When you have collected all the dots, you will be presented with another screenful of dots to collect.
Your task is made more difficult by the presence of the 'Spectral Bunties'. These move around the maze and if you contact one you will lose a life. You have three lives at the start of the game.
You are awarded a bonus life when you reach 20000, 75000, or 150000 points.
In order to combat the Bunties, you can collect 'power pills' - four per level. After collecting one the Bunties turn blue for a while, and you can contact them with impunity, in fact they turn into harmless eyes which drift back to their home, where they revert to their original form. You get a score bonus for this.
Occasionally, fruit will appear in the starting position. Collecting these also give you a score bonus.
On higher levels the Bunties chase you more efficiently, and power pills last for less time, although the fruits when collected give you more score.
