Hearts
------
Program : Michael Curtis
Cards : dacha - http://www.dacha.freeuk.com/
Setting up
----------
On loading the game will shuffle the cards, initialise the deck and ask for
your name.
Play will now start
Playing
-------
Hearts consists of ten rounds. At the start of each round you will be asked to
pass 3 cards to the player to your left. The player to your right will pass 3
cards to you.
At the start of each round the human player will always start play. You will
be asked to pick a card to lead with.
All players must follow suit (if they can). Once all players have played a
card, the player with the highest card of the lead suit wins the trick. (Ace
high, 2 low). The winner of each trick will lead the next one.
Scoring
-------
At the end of each round, points are counted by the amount of hearts in the
tricks the player has taken in. 13 points goes to the holder of the Queen of
clubs.
The score is how much the number of points differs from the average.
The object is to get the lowest score.
Computer players
----------------
The computer players are governed by Artificial Intelligence. I have tried to
program enough logic into the program so that they provide challenging play most
of the time.
Rules
-----
The rules are taken from United States Playing Card Companie's "Official Rules
of Card Games". I have missed out the rule where the Queen of Spades must be
played ASAP (this rule is often overlooked in sociable play anyway). Unlike
Microsoft's MShearts, this program plays "BlackLady Hearts" as oppossed to "Partnership Hearts" that MS plays.
