- --------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Starting
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Double click on the !PolySaw icon. This puts an icon on the
- iconbar. Click here to open the main window. Drag a 'board'
- file into the main window to start a game, or to replace the
- present game with another one. Various board files can be found
- in the PolyBoards directory. See later for instructions for
- creating your own.
-
-
- Playing
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- The aim is to cover the blue holes completely with the grey
- 'Polymos'.
-
- You can move the grey 'Polymos' in three ways:
-
- 1. To move a Polymo to another place pick it up with Select
- near its centre.
-
- 2. To rotate it, same thing but near an 'end' or corner.
-
- 3. To flip a Polymo over, click with Adjust.
-
- You may have to move a Polymo into a clear space to rotate or
- flip.
-
-
- Saving
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯
- You can save a board at any stage. Click on menu and use the
- save option in the usual way. You don't have to use the
- PolyBoards directory, but it may be the most convenient.
-
-
- Editing
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- There is a built in editor to allow you to design new boards.
- Choose 'Show Tools' from the menu. This pops up a window with
- the following options (plus Play):
-
- Squares : Select makes grey squares and Adjust deletes them.
- Holes : Same thing for blue holes.
- Join/Delete : Joins a group of sqaures to make a Polymo (Select)
- or deletes a Polymo (Adjust).
- Fresh Start : Immediately kills everything.
-
- If you save a board you've been editing, any 'loose' squares
- will be ignored. Also note that this is NOT a multi-document
- editor. If you drag a new board into the window, the old one is
- lost.
-
- When you have designed the board, you must click on Play in the
- tools window to try it out.
-

-
- Some other bits of info
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- See Martin Gardner's book 'Mathematical Puzzles and Diversions',
- (Pelican 1965) for more ideas to do with Polyonimoes.
-
- There is a maximum of 40 Polymos with up to 20 squares each.
-
- The program should work ok in any mode with at least 4 colours,
- but hasn't been tested in any high res modes, or, to be honest,
- several others.
-
- The program needs the shared C library 3.75.
