Triad
-----
Aim of the Game
---------------
This is a board game for 2 players. The idea of the game, being to move
your piece red or blue, diagonally across the board to it's home position.
That might sound easy but the catch is, you can only move in any of the
three directions underneath your oppenents piece.
The board
---------
The board consists of an 8 by 8 grid. In the top left is the red
players start position and the blues start postion is in the top right. The
home squares for each player are diagonally opposite.
The four centre squares are blank, and neither player can move onto
these. The remaining squares each have three arrows on, and these are
positioned randomly at the start of each game.
Starting the Game
-----------------
The board is displayed by clicking select on the !Triad icon on the
icon bar. The first player to move is picked randomly, thereafter the
player to start alternates. New games can be started by selecting New Board
from the menu.
Making a Move
-------------
When it is a human players turn, the valid moves the player can make
will be hilighted by yellow boxes, click select in one of these boxes to
move your piece there.
If the hilights option has been deselected from the Options dialogue
box you will have to work out where you can move to. In this situation you
can only move in directions indicated underneath your opponents piece. You
cannot move onto either of the start positions, onto any of the blank centre
squares, off the board, onto your opponents square or onto your opponents
home square. Click select on your chosen destination to move there. The
computer will not let you move to an invalid position.
