DungeonDuo is FreeWare.
This means copyright, and all other rights, are retained and asserted by the author.
I am releasing DungeonDuo so that it can be freely copied and used, but with
the restriction that no changes be made to the program without permission
from myself. The program is defined as those files within the !DungeonD,
!MapsDD, and !EditDD directories.
New files should be added and edited within the !MapsDD directory only
through use of the !EditDD program, or through dragging text descriptions
into the Texts directory.
This is the DungeonD Maps editor.
!EditDD requires the filing system to have seen a copy of !MapsDD and !DungeonD before
you run it.
Manual
-=-=-=-=-
At the start of an edit session you are presented with an empty area in which
to enter your map. Clicking upon the items on the right will let you affect
the map to the left.
Movement
-=-=-=-=-=-
The editable area may be scrolled using the keys:
" Up
Z Left Right X
? Down
or, if you prefer, the cursor keys
⇧
⇦ ⇨
⇩
or by moving the mouse to the very edge of the screen.
Control of editing
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Left mouse button - Used to place objects on the map.
Middle mouse button - Used to toggle or select objects on the map.
Right mouse button - Used to remove objects on the map.
The Menu
-=-=-=-=-=-
Clicking on various objects within the panel to the right has
the following effects:
Save
-=-=-=-
This takes you to a save screen which shows you the list of
filenames used so far so that you will not overwrite one by
accident.
Load
-=-=-=-
This takes you to a load screen which gives you a choice of
maps to load in.
*Warning* Save your currently edited map before loading in a
new one if you do not wish to lose your work.
Current Action
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
(This displays a brick block when the program initially loads.)
Clicking on here with the left mouse button switches animation ON.
Clicking on here with the right mouse button switches animation OFF.
(Animation of fans and walkways in the map area.)
This will display a block if a block is the current selection.
This will display a monster if monsters are selected.
This will display a guard if guards are selected.
A number will appear in the top left if one of the teleport
actions is active.
If you are positioning a player then either player one graphic
or player two graphic will appear here.
Add Monster
-=-=-=-=-=-=-
This option allows monsters to be painted onto the map.
Once a monster is on the map clicking on it with the middle button rotates
it to point in the direction you wish it to walk initially.
Add Guard
-=-=-=-=-=-
This option allows you to paint guards onto the map.
Once a guard is on the map clicking on it with the middle mouse button takes
you to the guard editing screen.
Guard editing screen
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Middle mouse button - rotate guard round.
Left button in top segment of screen - guard is patrolling.
Right button in top segment of screen - guard is on sentry duty.
Left button in the bottom segment of screen exits the guard edit screen.
Subtract Teleporter
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Allows you to click on a teleporter and remove its ability to teleport.
A teleporter unable to teleport will no longer have a number at the top
left.
Add Teleporter
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Allows you to enable a teleporter.
You must have a teleporter (a round circle graphic) and a landing pad
(the graphic to the right of the teleporter) already pasted onto the
map.
Click on the teleporter and then destination pad and the same number
should appear at the top left of both graphics.
Add Border
-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Clicking on 'Add Border' changes the border to the currently selected
block. The blue lines inside the map area mark off the border area.
*Note* Players cannot walk through into the border - no matter what block
type it is constructed from.
Position
-=-=-=-=-=-
Clicking with left mouse on the word POSITION takes you to the position of
player one.
Clicking with right mouse on the word POSITION takes you to the position of
player two.
Clicking upon ONE or TWO allows you to place that player upon the map.
The square box around the player shows you the extent of the player's view
at that position - useful to ensure, for example, that something you thought
you have hidden *is* actually hidden.
Block selection area
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
This area is made up of lots of bands of blocks you can select.
Left button - select block.
Middle button - scroll left through possible blocks.
Right button - scroll right through blocks in other direction.
*Note* where a block occurs more than once the second occurrence is likely
to be a secret passage block which allows the player to walk straight
through it.
Exiting
-=-=-=-=-
Make sure you have saved your currently edited map if you want to keep it.
To exit press 'Q' or 'f12'
Text Intro Files
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
These should be created in an editor and then saved inside the !MapsDD
program - in the Texts directory. The text intro should have the same
filename as your map to work correctly. If you do not wish to use a text
intro then the program will realise one is not present and continue
normal operation.
Happy map designing.
:)
Sending me your maps
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
If you wish to have your maps included in any future
update or just want the opportunity to show how good
your designs are then by all means send them in.
