Version: 1.0
DungeonDuo is FreeWare.
This means copyright, and all other rights, are retained and asserted by the author.
I am releasing DungeonDuo so that it can be freely copied and used, but with
the restriction that no changes be made to the program without permission
from myself. The program is defined as those files within the !DungeonD,
!MapsDD, and !EditDD directories.
New files should be added and edited within the !MapsDD directory only
through use of the !EditDD program, or through dragging text descriptions
into the Texts directory.
The Plot
-=-=-=-=-=-
You and your friend have acquired the job of guarding the countryside from
the rampaging monsters that live on the fringes. Your confidence in the
various guards under your command fades somewhat when you discover they are
mainly timid creatures... you can only hope that they do not run at the first
sign of a slavering jaw...
The Game
-=-=-=-=-=-
This game is the final, but still unpolished, version.
It is fully possible to zip round the maze investigating how certain features
work - and trying to kill as many monsters as possible.
Controls
-=-=-=-=-=-
Player 1 (red) Player 2 (green)
" Up 'Keypad 9'
Z Left Right X ⇦ Left Right ⇨
? Down 'Keypad 5'
RETURN Fire 'Keypad -' Fire
Pressing Q or 'f12' - Quits current game and takes you back to the start.
Pressing Q or 'f12' on the title screen quits the program.
To exit program from game you must first quit to title screen.
Hints
-=-=-=-
If you are running down a single-width corridor and wish to take a
side-turning then press the correct key for the turning
*whilst still running down the corridor* - your character should dart in
at the appropriate moment (useful when being chased.)
Run away as much as possible! Monsters take several hits before they die so
a tactic of getting a few shots off and then retreating will be more likely
to stop your soldier becoming eaten than standing your ground.
You can hide behind boulders.
If you are running away from a Monster and see a Guard then run past the
Guard. If you are lucky the Monster will decide to chase the Guard instead
of you so that you an leg it.
Monsters and Guards are short sighted.
Moving platforms and fans can change the direction weapons are fired.
Thankyous to
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Andrew Hallam \ for play-testing the game
Thomas Ogg / (not that I took much notice of suggestions ^_^)
The Author
-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Paul wrote this game because he liked Dunjunz so much he wanted to see if
something similar could be achieved on the Arc. The program, being a
prototype taken too far, soon became bogged-down and he has rather given up
on upgrading it.
Currently he has on hold a four-player platformer game which, if he
gets round to finishing it, will be very nice. He is also continually
developing his game !GunShip which is starting to look rather decent.
BTW He also rates !Invaders by Tim Puegniez as the best Arc PD game so far...
anyone agree?
