Address is an easy-to-use address book in which you can record details such as email and world wide web addresses, telephone and fax numbers, postal address, etc. What makes it particularly useful is that information from the address book can be quickly and easily transferred to any other application without having to retype the data. For example, a postal address can be inserted into an Impression or Ovation frame, or a world wide web or email address pasted into Termite or ANT Suite's 'address' writeable icon, each with just a single click of a button.
Note: Address will not run correctly from the cover disc. In order to be able to add your own records you will need to dearchive it to another disc or your hard drive. To do this, double-click on the !Address icon on the cover disc, and then drag the contents of the Address filer window to another disc or your hard drive.
Using Address
To add a new record to Address, select the New option from Address's Record menu and enter the details. To copy an email address, name, fax number or postal address from a record to an application such as Impression, Ovation, Edit or the 'address' writeable icon in a WWW browser such as Termite, simply place the caret in the appropriate application's window or icon and then click on the relevant button at the bottom of the Address List window. Address comes with a built-in help system. To access it, select the Help option from the Record menu. The Welcome button will always return you to the first page of information.
The Address List window
To open the Address List window, click Select on Address's iconbar icon. Click Select on the person or company whose details you want to transfer to another application, place the caret in the receiving application's window or writeable icon, and then click Select on the appropriate 'link' button at the bottom of the Address List window.
Email will send the selected person's email address.
Name will send the person's name.
Fax will send the person's fax number.
Address will send the person's postal address.
You can specify how the data is sent to the receiving application via the Options window which can be opened from the iconbar menu.
The Options window
The Options window allows you to set the speed at which the data is transferred from Address to the receiving application. Certain applications cannot handle data being sent to them too fast, so you can specify the data transfer rate from Slow to Very Fast. You can also choose whether or not the Link name is sent when you select the Name or Address buttons, and how the Address is sent - with commas after each line or capitalised.
Click Menu in the Address List window to open the 'Record' menu.
The Record menu
New -> Add a new record to address.
Copy -> Copy a selected record to a new record.
Edit -> Edit a selected record.
Delete -> Delete a selected record.
View -> View a selected record.
Goto -> Goto a specified record.
Help -> Open the Help window.
The Iconbar menu:
Info -> Provides info about Address.
Options -> Opens the Options window.
Help -> Opens the help pages.
Quit -> Quits the program.
The New Record Window
Enter the person's or company's data in the relevant fields. If you do not want to keep the new record, select the Cancel button. To save the record click on the Accept button.
