  17. The Vault is a GEM-based hard disk backup program that approximates
  18. the speed of image backups while writing standard TOS-readable floppy
  19. disks.  It has several noteworthy features: it has built-in error
  20. checking and error-recovery routines, it does not require a large
  21. memory, nor is it necessary to specially reboot the machine before
  22. running, it can back up files that are larger than a single floppy
  23. disk, it provides both full and incremental backups, and incremental
  24. backups can be based on file dates and/or the modify bit (under TOS
  25. 1.4), it allows multiple wildcard patterns to select the files and/or
  26. folders to back up, it permits backup options to be saved and restored
  27. from configuration files, and it maintains a complete log of its
  28. actions.  It has extensive built-in help screens and comes with a
  29. 27-page manual in LaTeX format.  The Key is a companion GEM-based copy
  30. program for restoring files saved by The Vault and is needed to
  31. reassemble occasional long files that have been split across floppies.
