  10.  Outside the USA, GEnie is available through direct access in
  11.  Canada, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.  GEnie is
  12.  available through PDN (public data network) access in an
  13.  additional 20 countries.
  14.               
  15.  To gain access to GEnie in countries with no direct GEnie access,
  16.  you must contact the local PTT (equivalent of US Postal Service and
  17.  FCC combined) or look in the telephone book for data service
  18.  providers.  In each country the pricing, terms, support and service
  19.  will be different.  Unfortunately, GEnie does not have any
  20.  information to assist in obtaining local PDN access.  Contact,
  21.  pricing and access information changes so frequently that the only
  22.  reliable source of information is the local PDN itself.

  38.  To gain access to GEnie, (after obtaining local PDN access):

  40.   1.  Connect to the local PDN using PDN access instructions.
  41.          
  42.   2.  Enter the following information all on one line:
  43.         3136 (GE Information Services' DNIC)
  44.            9 (Indicates PAD Service)
  45.           00 (Indicates Asynchronous Service)
  46.         Example:  3136900
  47.         OR... 31369000000000
  48.               (If the PDN requires the full X.121 address.)
  49.                Contact the local PDN representative for help
  50.                with addressing if you have trouble.
  51.         The GE Information Services network, GEnie's network,
  52.         will distinguish the access speed automatically.

  54.   3.    At the prompt:    U#=
  55.         Enter:            XJM11997,PDN  <RETURN>
  56.         You will be given an electronic form to fill out, including
  57.         name, mailing and billing addresses, and international
  58.         credit card.  Please fill out this form to sign up for
  59.         GEnie access.

  61.  4.    After filling out the signup form, a startup package will
  62.        be mailed to your mailing address.  This includes a contract,
  63.        which must be returned before the account can be validated.
  64.        To save time, the contract may also be faxed to GEnie; the
  65.        fax number will appear on the contract.

  68.  The rates for PDN usage are: 300/1200/2400    $8.00        $20.00

  70.  There is no signup fee.  A manual is not included, but may be ordered
  71.  for $28.95 (which includes shipping and handling).  GEnie rates are
  72.  in addition to your local PDN access rates and fees.

  74.  Prime time is in effect from 8 AM to 6PM EST (EASTERN time, U.S.A.)
  75.  weekdays (Monday through Friday).  Non-prime time is all other
  76.  hours and includes GEnie holidays.
