INTRODUCING E.Z. ARITHMETIC
E.Z. Arithmetic is a series of twelve modules developed by
Raymond La Barbera covering whole numbers, whole number bases,
fractions, decimals, measurements, percents and integers.
These modules are designed to make it easy for grade school
students, junior high school students, high school students,
college students, parents and adults to learn, relearn, review or
drill all aspects of arithmetic. They can be used in elementary
and junior high school arithmetic courses, as part of high school
and college remedial math courses and as personal private tutors
for self-study. E.Z. Arithmetic can help in getting higher
grades in all arithmetic courses and standardized tests (such as
the SAT, ACT, RCT and GED), in preparing for math and science
courses and in becoming more effective at solving every-day
arithmetic problems.
Each one of the twelve E.Z. Arithmetic modules lists for
$49.95 and thoroughly covers a particular area of arithmetic.
Each module consists of a printed manual and disk-based software.
The manual contains all the study hints, terminology,
definitions, concepts, methods, model problems and exercises
necessary to master that module's topics. The software provides
an endless amount of drill problems for practice and
reinforcement and is quite easy to use and user friendly.
Each module of E.Z. Arithmetic is available for the Amiga
computer, the Apple II computer, the Atari ST, STE or TT computer
(medium or high resolution), the HP 95LX palmtop, the HP 48 SX
and HP 48S calculators, the IBM or any compatible computer (any
graphics card), the Macintosh computer and the TI-85 calculator.
The computer versions run in monochrome or color, do not require
a hard drive, mouse, printer or memory expansion, and work with
all graphic cards. The TI-85, HP 48SX and HP 48S, HP 95LX, Apple
II and IBM versions each include a single 3.5 inch and a single
5.25 inch floppy disk, both formatted double density. (The Atari
version comes on a single sided 3.5 inch floppy disk.)
E.Z. Arithmetic has many special and unique features which
contribute to its practicality, ease of use and enhancement of
mathematical education. Here are some of them:
* Every mathematical vocabulary word used in each module is fully
explained using definitions and model problems making
arithmetic easy to understand rather than incomprehensible like
some unfamiliar foreign language.
* A complete arithmetic course outline is included showing
exactly how the subject is organized making it easy to get
from topic to topic.
* A precise step-by-step method is laid out for each type of
problem providing all the tools needed to make problem solving
easy.
* Each definition, concept and method is illustrated by lots of
model problems making it easy to solve new problems on tests
and in daily life.
* An extensive assortment of exercises is provided at the end of
each topic making it easy to master the arithmetic skills
covered in the module.
* The software makes it easy to practice and master computational
skills by providing endlessly varied, randomly selected sets of
problems involving whole number operations in other bases. At
all times, the user may pick the whole number operation to
drill and choose the number of problems and difficulty level
for each problem set. As the user works through each set of
problems, the software provides reinforcement by keeping score,
by redisplaying each problem when showing the correct answer
and by displaying the final statistics for the problem set
after the last problem is done.
* Since no computer knowledge or experience is needed to use the
software, E.Z. Arithmetic makes it very easy to practice and
drill arithmetic skills.
Here is a list of the twelve E.Z. Arithmetic modules and the
topics included in each one:

software provides intensive drill in the following skills:
1) Place value of a digit in a whole number.
2) Greatest common factor (GCF) of two whole numbers.
3) Least common multiple (LCM) of two whole numbers.
4) Prime factorization of a whole number.
Module 2: Whole Number Operations
This module covers whole number operations including addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers. The
software provides intensive drill in the following skills:
1) Addition involving two whole numbers.
2) Subtraction involving two whole numbers.
3) Multiplication involving two whole numbers.
4) Division involving two whole numbers.
5) Mixed operations involving two whole numbers.
Module 3: Whole Number Base Basics
This module covers the basics of whole numbers written in
other bases including place value of a digit in a whole number
written in another base, reading and writing a whole number
written in another base and converting the base in which a whole
number is written. The software provides intensive drill in the
following skills:
