----- Bob's Autolog Utility -----
The Atari St series has many things going for it, especially some
really good telecommunications packages. One of the more popular
programs is Flash, by Antic software. Flash has pretty much
everything you'd ever need in a communications program: Ease of use,
capture buffer, macros, external protocols. But one thing I really
started to get irritated with is the DO files. DO files are supposed
to make life easier by logging you onto a BBS with minimal effort on
your part. Unfortunately, this effort is greatly increased when you
have to MAKE a DO file. In short, it's a pain. Especially if you get
some sysops that seem to change their BBS every once in a while.
In conjunction with Flash, Autolog will create a DO file for you that
will work perfectly with Flash.
Put the AUTOLOG.PRG file in the Flash directory. Load Flash, and go
to the capture screen. Move up to Edit, and click on Function Keys.
Make one of the function keys read:
>gem c:\flash\autolog.prg
Change the path to your own Flash directory.
Call the BBS which you want to create the DO file for. Once the modem
has connected, press the function key that you programmed to run AUTOLOG.
AUTOLOG will clear the screen, and become your active terminal. Wait a few
seconds and the BBS will continue it's logon. Enter all the information as
you normally would, and proceed to enter all the options that you'd like
to run every time you log on (such as reading the mail, or maybe
looking at new downloads). Once you get exactly where you want to be,
press F1. This will bring up an Item Selector. Enter the filename
that you'd like to save under, and Miller Time! Finished. The program
will exit, and you may press any key to enter back into flash.
If you accidentally run AUTOLOG, you may leave it anytime by pressing
UNDO. If you press CANCEL within the item selector instead of OK, no
file will be saved, and you'll be exited back into flash.
I have tested this will every BBS in my area, and have taken into
account every possible situation I have run into. However, since I
can't call EVERYWHERE, I'd appreciate if you run into trouble, that
you contact me and give the BBS number that you had a problem with,
and what the problem was.
Feel free to distribute this program with this documentation to your
local BBS.
This program is shareware. A donation of $10 for continued effort at
making new software programs for the Atari ST series is greatly
appreciated.
