  2. about BiModem?
  3. Have you ever wondered why only one side of your modem is being used, 
  4. while you are sure the thing can send tow ways?
  5. Have you ever felt there could be more than ZModem?
  6. Have you ever been bored while downloading?

  8. Then Jekyll is the just the thing for you!
  9.  
  10. Jekyll is a full duplex file transfer protocol that allows your modem to 
  11. send files both ways and what's more: you can even chat with the other 
  12. side at the same time and the CPS rate won't drop noticably. It can even 
  13. go up if you're sending uncompressed files because Jekyll will compress 
  14. them before sending and decompress them automatically when receiving!

  16. All this and more can now become part of your everyday life if you use 
  17. Jekyll v1.38!

  19. A quick overview of it's stunning features:

  21. - Full duplex files transfer (send files both ways)
  22. - Split screen chat with configurable magics (words automatically being 
  23.   replaced by alternatives) and function keys
  24. - Real-time data compression, unseen until now. Can compress executables 
  25.   up to 30% and text files up to 50%!!
  26. - File selector built in so you can select files while sending the 
  27.   previous files.
  28. - Host-mode: scan the hard disk at the other side and request files from 
  29.   it. Useful for BBS's and normal users. BBS's can set all sorts of limits 
  30.   so their users won't get more than they're supposed to!
  31. - File-viewer, to read something while downloading
  32. - A small terminal to quickly make a data connection
  33. - Lots and lots more................

  36. The new features in v1.38 when compared to v1.32 are:

  38. - Progress bar
  39. - GMUS-protocol support: select music files for GigaMusic and Ultraplayer 
  40.   from within Jekyll! (Ctrl-M, Ctrl-Cursors)
  41. - Switches have been reassigned to four letters so their meaning is 
  42.   clearer
  43. - Made MiNT/MultiTOS compatible
  44. - Chatlog, saves everything you and the remote type in a file
  45.   (-cout, -c_in & -chat)
  46. - Environment variable for configuration (JEKYLL=)
  47. - Files can be automatically deleted when succesfully sent (^..)
  48. - Screen routines imporved, now work a lot better when Jekyll's own screen
  49.   routines have been turned off, no more juddery scrolling
  50. - TT-ports can be used (-port)
  51. - Now works OK on TT (You may want to use -oscr0 and -oser0)
  52. - Cache size can now go up to 64K and caches are now dynamically allocated
  53. - 4K-Caches for (chat)logfiles
  54. - Jekyll now returns a return-code, it is the amount of kilobytes sent,
  55.   this can be useful for level-calculations if BBS's use the host-mode
  56. - Host-mode now by default OFF, some sysops complained about it being
  57.   by default on
  58. - Bug fixed that caused Freeze Dried to run Jekyll a few times when you
  59.   installed it with an autostart-string and that caused QuickBBS to
  60.   sometimes get incorrect descriptions like "Jekyll v1.32" etc.
  61. - Many bugs fixed and other small features added....

  64. - Major RTS/CTS-bug in serial routines fixed.
  65. - Some bugs in Hyde fixed
