  1. KM_TERM - ADDITIONAL AUTOLOGON INFORMATION
  2.  
  3. There's been a bit of confusion regarding the recording of autologon
  4. sequences which I'd like to clear up once and for all...
  5.  
  6. This is a step by step account of how to create a foolproof autologon
  7. file:-
  8.  
  9. 1. RUN KM_Term from the desktop (I said it was foolproof)
  10.  
  11. 2. Press <shift-F1>
  12.  
  13. 3. The fileselector appears in the LOGON\ directory. Type the name of
  14.    the autologon file (e.g. NEW.AUT) and click on 'OK' or press
  15.    <return>.
  16.  
  17. 4. Pull up the AUTODIAL facility from the main menu and click on the
  18.    appropriate BBS number.
  19.  
  20. 5. When you CONNECT wait until the BBS asks you for some sort of
  21.    keyboard input, e.g. 'Press ESCAPE to enter BBS' or something
  22.    similar. Every time that this occurs (or name/password requests
  23.    etc.) wait a minimum of 0.2 seconds and then press <shift-F3>.
  24.    Then enter the required response on the keyboard or via a macro
  25.    string (F1-F8).

  27. 6. NB: IF YOU ARE USING KM_TERM v1.5 THEN YOU WILL NEED TO PRESS
  28.    <shift-F3> AFTER TYPING IN ANY STRING THAT IS TERMINATED BY A
  29.    [CR] BEFORE ENTERING THE REQUIRED <Return> KEYPRESS. THIS FEATURE
  30.    HAS BEEN IMPROVED IN v1.6 SO THIS IS *NOT* REQUIRED IN LATER
  31.    VERSIONS.

  33. 7. Every time the BBS asks for some input, press <shift-F3> and then
  34.    enter the required response until you reach the required place
  35.    where normal user input is desired. Then press <shift-F2> to
  36.    terminate the record facility.

  38. 8. In KM_Term v1.6 onwards the current RS232 setup can be saved in
  39.    the autologon file by pressing <shift-F10> BEFORE moving to the
  40.    Autodial facility and AFTER initiating the record facility.

  42. 9. In KM_Term v1.6 onwards, any XYZ transfers are also recorded to
  43.    enable users to create autologon files that logon, download new
  44.    mail, and logoff without intervention unless desired. If you are
  45.    using v1.73 or later this step is not required with ZMODEM
  46.    downloads since KM_Term now autodetects ZMODEM.
