  1. This diskette contains Version 8 of the Icon program library for the Atari ST.
  2.  
  3. As explained in the accompanying documentation (which is also in listable
  4. form in tr90-7.doc on the diskette), the library is divided into three
  5. parts: data, procs (procedures), and progs (complete programs).
  6.  
  7. An object-oriented version of Icon, called Idol, also is included.
  8.  
  9. Each is contained in an ARC file.  arc.prg from the Atari Icon executables
  10. diskette can be used to dearchive these files.
  11.  
  12. For example, running in a command-line processor such as ASH
  13.  
  14.     arc x data.arc
  15.  
  16. dearchives the data files.
  17.  
  18. Since environment variables do not work properly with most versions
  19. of Icon on the Atari ST, you probably will need to have the translated
  20. procedure files in the same folder as the programs.  You can either
  21. unload procs and progs in the same folder, or place them in separate
  22. folders and move the .u1 and .u2 files from the procs folder into the
  23. progs folder before compiling the programs in the progs folder.

  25. The files trans.ash and comp.ash are ASH scripts for translating the
  26. procedures and compiling the programs, respectively.
