INTRODUCTION
------------
MIDIMIX is an accessory designed to run by itself or with other
midi applications such as sequencers, drum machines, etc.. It
offers 16 channel control of up to 128 different controllers and has
10 preset control buttons which can be reset and saved to disk.
LOADING
-------
Make sure "MIDIMIX.ACC" is in your root directory so that it's
loaded at boot time. If "MIDIMIX.CFG" exists and is in the root
directory, the controller buttons will be set to the configuration
that was last saved. If the file doesn't exist, the default
configuration will be used.
RUNNING IT
----------
After it's been loaded, MIDIMIX can be activated by selecting the
accessories menu ( usually the Atari symbol or "DESK" ) and clicking
on "Midimix" ( make sure you're in either medium or high resolution,
MIDIMIX won't run in low resolution ). The mixer will appear in the
center of the screen and can be moved by clicking on the move bar and
dragging.
CONTROL BUTTONS
---------------
When you first use MIDIMIX, the control buttons will be set to
their default settings. Double click on any of them and a dialog box
will pop up with that button's controller name and number. You can
change either or both of them by clicking on the item and hitting
the "ESC" button on your keyboard to clear the entry, then typing in
whatever name or number you like. Check your user manual's MIDI
implementation chart under "Control Change" to find which controllers
your midi equipment supports. The controller name can be entered in
either upper or lower case and is limited to 8 letters or less in
length. Click on the "OK" button when your done to change the
settings or "Cancel" to return without changing them.
Single clicking on a button will highlight it and select it as
the active control change button. The control number of the active
button will appear in the control number window.
SAVING THE CONFIGURATION
------------------------
The current configuration of the control buttons can be saved by
clicking on the disk icon located between the control buttons and the
control number. If the file "MIDIMIX.CFG" doesn't already exist, it
will be created for you and the configuration saved to it.
CONTROL NUMBER
--------------
Click on either the up or down arrow to select a control number
from 0 to 127. This allows you to choose a controller other than
those set in the control buttons. If the number in the window matches
the control number of a button, the button will be highlighted, the
faders will be reset and that controller will become active.
FADERS
------
The fader values range from 0 to 127 as indicated by the number
just above each fader. In medium resolution, only approximately
every other value will be displayed and sent. The channel number
controlled by each fader appears directly below it.
For panpot control, moving the fader up will set panning toward
the right and moving it down will set it toward the left.
Any time a new controller is selected, the fader values of the
old controller are saved and then are reset to the values of the
new controller.
All faders and control settings will be saved whenever the mixer
window is closed, and restored when the window is reopened.
