  14. Mode-View is a Utility Program for Displaying the Resonant 
  15. Frequencies of Listening rooms Using only the AXIAL MODES.  Axial 
  16. Modes are resonances which build up between two parallel surfaces, 
  17. as opposed to Tangential and Oblique Modes which result from sound 
  18. waves reflecting around the room in more than 1 dimension (like some 
  19. of those fancy Pool shots you see on TV).

  21. Only Axials are shown because they are usually the strongest and 
  22. most troublesome MODES.  Also, Modes are only displayed from 0 to 
  23. 500 Hz.  Axial MODES along the Length, Width, & Height of the Room 
  24. are each displayed with a different line type.  If two or more 
  25. modes happen to occur at the same frequency (ie: one of the 
  26. dimentsions is a multiple of the other), they are shown "Stacked" 
  27. on top of each other; this makes the line appear longer at 
  28. Multiple Mode Points.

  34. To use Mode-View, Simply Double-Click "modeview.prg" from the 
  35. Desktop.  The Dialog box at the top of the screen, is where you 
  36. enter the room dimensions.  When you have entered the dimensions 
  37. correctly, click "DO IT" and the plot will appear in the box at 
  38. the bottom of the screen.  The default dimensions given at the 
  39. start produce a nice even, and dense distribution of Axial Modes 
  40. on the graph.  These numbers were taken from "THE MASTER HANDBOOK 
  41. OF ACOUSTICS" by F. Alton Everest, Published by TAB Books. I 
  42. really wish my studio had those dimensions!

  48. I wrote Mode-View for my own purposes mainly as I recently  
  49. Upgraded my studio to 16 Track, and I am sick of my Lousy control 
  50. Room Acoustics.  If you find Mode-View useful, and want to become 
  51. an OFFICIAL user, please send $5.00 to Neo-Sync.  In the future, I 
  52. may add more calculations to the program like RT60 Reverb time, 
  53. Helmholtz Resonator Frequency, etc.  If you don't register, I have 
  54. no way of getting the upgrades to you.  I am trying this shareware 
  55. thing out to see if it is really worth the time.  So far, it 
  56. doesn't seem too good!
