  6. <ENTER> to select it or press the

  14. <F1>    - <F1> or <Atari>invokes the
  15.           Services Manager where you
  16.           perform other actions.

  19. Menu Manager is part of the Personal
  20. Information Manager (PIM).
  21.  
  22. The shareware version of PIM is
  23. fully functional but works only with
  24. the specific menus and forms
  25. included with the product. The
  26. shareware version can be distributed
  27. to others provided it is unaltered.

  37. The In-Touch Personal Information
  38. Manager (PIM) is a forms based
  39. database management system which:
  40.  - uses a hierarchical, menu based
  41.    user interface, specified by text
  42.    based menu specification files,
  43.  - allows record search, retrieval
  44.    and data entry via text based
  45.    form specification files,
  46.  - saves data in a data file
  47.    associated with the form,
  48.  - displays field, form, menu
  49.    sensitive help and,
  50.  - implements simple field edit
  51.    checking.

  53. PIM consists of three modes of
  54. operation, or 'Function' Managers:
  55.  - Menu Manager
  56.  - Form Manager
  57.  - Services Manager
  58.  
  59. The PIM Menu Manager offers a
  60. hierarchical, menu based user
  61. interface.  Each menu item may call
  62. a subsequent menu or a form.  PIM
  63. starts with the Menu Manager in
  64. control displaying the Main Menu.

  66. The PIM Form Manager allows data
  67. entry, record search, storage and
  68. retrieval.  The Form Manager is
  69. accessed when a form item is
  70. selected from a Menu.  A Look-Up
  71. Window is used to locate existing
  72. records that are to be viewed,
  73. changed or deleted.  A Look-up
  74. Window may also be used on selected
  75. fields to access reference data to
  76. be inserted into one or more fields
  77. of the active form.  Only one active
  78. form and one active data set are
  79. allowed at any one time.

  81. The PIM Services Manager provides
  82. access to a fixed set of functions
  83. accessed at any time by the user
  84. from either the Menu Manager or Form
  85. Manager.

  87. <F2> accesses the Help Facility to
  88. display a context sensitive help
  89. description based on the current
  90. cursor position.  Pressing <F2> a
  91. second time displays general help
  92. for either the Menu Manager or the
  93. Form Manager.

  95. The data files can be set as
  96. read-only so they can only be
  97. updated by PIM.  In addition, any
  98. new or changed records can be logged
  99. so as to maintain an audit trail.
