OCR: The Monastery of San Donato a Scopeto Note of Payments for the Adoration of the Magi July 1481 Corporazioni religiose soppresse dal governo francese, 140, 3, c. 74 Perhaps as early as the late 1470s, the monks of the monastery at San Donato a Scopeto outside Florence commissioned Leonardo to paint an altarpiece of the Adoration of the Magi. The contract shown here states that the painter is also obliged to pay installments on the dowry of the daughter of Silvestro, son of Giovanni. Because the document is vaguely worded, two Leonardo scholars have differently interpreted even the for good date of the commission in the course of their research for this project. Accordingly, new translations by both scholars are presented here. 150 mg
