Pacman for GEM version 0.2.5. 18 December 1998.
Copyright by Mario Becroft 1998.
This game is freeware!
Thank you to the following people who helped with the project:
Jens, "Spion of Escape" - for most of the game levels
Jo Even Skarstein - for some more levels
Jo Vandeweghe - for the extra tile set
Thomas Binder - for the colour icon routines
-------------------------------------------------------------
------
NOTICE
------
This is not a completely finished, perfect version of the game. It really
needs some more finishing touches, such as more levels, more interesting bonus
objects and perhaps other features. However I have not had time to complete
it so rather than leave the game sitting on my hard disc where nobody can
use it, I have decided to release it in its current form. The program is
freeware, and you are encouraged to distribute the original archive anywhere
and everywhere in an unmodified form. You may NOT distribute modified copies
or incomplete versions without my permission.
--------------------------
INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATION
--------------------------
To use Pacman simply double click in PACMAN.APP to load the program. By
default it will load the standard level and tile files, but you can load
others by either dragging them onto PACMAN.APP, or by using the appropriate
menu options.
You can start a new game with Control-N. Movement of the Pacman is controlled
by the keyboard's cursor keys, up, down, left and right. The only other
control you may want to use is the Escape key, to pause the game.
The game may be a bit slow on an 8 MHz ST without NVDI, as I haven't taken
much time to optimise it at all. However it should work fine on any modern
machine.
I still hope to do some more work on this game some time, espcially if I get
lots of encouraging feedback so if you like the game and would be pleased
to see it get some more features, please send me an email or a postcard!
One of the reasons why I am not doing more work on Pacman at the moment, is
because I've been putting some time into my Atari hardware projects, including
a serial mouse interface, AT keyboard interface, IDE hard disc interface and
TOS 2.06 upgrade and some other projects. If you're interested in these, please
send me an email or visit my WWW page.
