  1. Notes on the EES Plugin Modules for Eudora by Qualcomm:

  4. Eudora Editting System 1.0 © Copyright 1995, 1996 Jaeson M. Engle.

  6. First and foremost, you MUST use the proper plugin for the version of
  7. Eudora you have.
  8.  
  9. You may pick and choose, or simply install the plugin named "EES".
  10.  
  11. Place any/ all plugins in the PREFERECES folder of your System folder.
  12. Otherwise you will get each plugin listed twice in the Eudora Settings dialog
  13. (a known bug in Eudora :-)
  14.  
  15. Descriptions of the plugins (Both Versions):

  18. EES Full: All modifications in one. See descriptions below.
  19.  
  20. [Free Version Only] Sound Replacement: Allows new and exciting sounds
  21. to be used for Eudora when it gets new mail and when it needs your help.
  22. You can change this one using ResEdit and changing the snd resource. Be
  23. SURE and keep the resource IDs the same (ie 1001 and 1002). I'm working
  24. on a way to change this easily.

  26. Message Strings: Allows you to change the To: From: etcetera lines when
  27. you open a new mesage to send. Purely superficial.
  28.  
  29. Misc. Settings : Various settings that you can modify:
  30.     - Name of Settings File:
  31.     Change the name of your settings files. Only works when Eudora needs
  32.     to make a new one.
  33.     - Text File Creator:
  34.     Something that always bothered me. Allows you to change the default
  35.     creator of new text file Eudora makes from TeachText/SimpleText to
  36.     something else (ala BBEdit (R*ch), MS Word (MSWD), etc.)
  37.     - Number of Wrap Characters:
  38.     Changes where Eudora wraps if you have word wrapping set.
  39.     - Name of "Send" button:
  40.     Another superficial change; allows you to change the Send button in
  41.     new messages to something more exciting (mine reads "NO!" :-)
  42.     - Prefix of (Subject) Replies:
  43.     Changes the begining of messages you reply to from Re: to whatever.
  44.     NOTE: The message will continue to get longer and longer as people
  45.     reply to messages. This could get very annoying.
  46.     - Name of Eudora Folder:
  47.     Changes the name of the Eudora Folder the next time Eudora makes one.
  48.     - "New Mail" Dialog Text:
  49.     Changes the text of the "You have new mail" dialog if you have this as
  50.     a notification method (personally I suggest against it, but...).
  51.     - FRAGMENT_SIZE, SPLIT_THRESH:
  52.     This determines how large of a chunk large messages will come in as
  53.     (such as digests or Info-Mac messages or TidBITS :-). 
  54.     SUGGESTED SIZES (From TidBITS#271/03-Apr-95):
  55.     SPLIT_THRESH: 31900
  56.     FRAGMENT_SIZE: 31800
  57.     DO NOT make these sizes over 32000. Eudora currently (as of 1.5.1 and
  58.     2.1.1) uses the Mac's TextEdit services to do text, and that has a 32k
  59.     limit. I cannot be responsible for crashes caused by your setting
  60.     these values over 32k.
  61.     
  62. Header Settings:
  63.     Originially known as EHM 1.1, this module replaces the app I made so
  64.     you can change headers on the fly. NOTE: You must make the header LOOK
  65.     like a normal header or mail packages like sendmail will barf (very
  66.     nastily by the way).
  67.     FORMAT: 
  68.         X-Header: whatever
  69.         X-Header can = anything
  70.         whatever can = anything
  71.         DON'T LEAVE OUT THE COLON!
  72.  
  73. Menu Replacment: 
  74.     Replaces the Settings menu so that the settings item can be called
  75.     from typing cmd-\.
  76.     
  77. Legal Stuff:
  78. ========
  79. Even though one set says "free" on it, it is not. This indicates
  80. that is for use with the free version of Eudora.
  81. This package is NOT free. I ask a mere US$10 for all of this. 
  82. Shareware means pay for it, freeware means you don't, and 
  83. public domain means you can do anything with it. As it says in each of
  84. the  settings dialogs, this is SHAREWARE.

  106. I am working on a suite of AppleScripts for interfacing with Eudora.
  107. If you have any suggestions/ requests for scripts, please let me know.
  108. I am also working on an application that will create a plugin module
  109. containing just the parts of these that you want, though this is a low
  110. priority as the plugins pretty much speak for themselves.
