It is OK to have many copies of MacUpdate on one “client” Mac that is connected to many servers over a network. It is also OK to have a copy of MacUpdate on each “client” of a 50-Macintosh server. Of course, if they all try to update at the same time, network traffic may get heavy, and speed of execution may suffer. Therefore, it is recommended that each copy of MacUpdate be used in "Daily Update at Time" mode, with the times staggered to minimize the number of “clients” trying to access the server at one time.
If you have an alias of MacUpdate in the Startup Items folder and use the “Synchronize on Startup” checkbox option over a network, you’ll have to go to the chooser and check the “Auto Mount on Startup Box” for the server. Otherwise, MacUpdate will not be able to find the volume because it has not been mounted.
