  4. You can Open and Save setting files using the File Open and Save As commands.  Information saved includes source and destination directories, What, How and Auto Synchronize information, and the Report setup.

The Preferences file, must be in the same folder as MacUpdate, or a new, default Preferences file will be created in this folder.  Settings Files are COMPLETELY different from the Prefs file, and and a Settings File does not "replace" the Prefs file.  The Prefs file ALWAYS saves MacUpdate's current setup when MacUpdate is quit.
