HD Timeout is an utility that allows you to set the hard drive timeout
value of your Macintosh.
During startup, the Mac pauses for 15 to 31 seconds to allow the hard
drive to spin up. Some hard drives take longer to spin up than the default
value of 15 seconds. Thus the reason for this utility.
The timeout value is stored in the parameter RAM of your Macintosh and
usually has the default value of 15 seconds.
If your Mac won't boot with the default hard drive from a “cold boot” but
will from a “warm boot” then HD Timeout could solve the problem.

Simply double-click or open the application.
A simple dialog box will display the current timout value in a single text
edit field.
Change the value to anything you wish (between 15 and 31 seconds). You
can also type 0 (zero) to reset the timeout to the default (usually 15
seconds).
Press the “OK” button if you wish to set a new timeout value or “Cancel”
to exit without changing it.
That’s it!
