QuikFloppy is a system extension ("INIT") that can considerably speed floppy disk access when using external file systems such as Apple's PC Exchange or Insignia Solutions' Access PC. QuikFloppy will take up just under 20K of system memory when loaded. Although QuikFloppy may speed I/O on any floppy disk (including standard Macintosh disks), the performance increases using Macintosh disks are less noticable than when using DOS mounting products such as PC Exchange.
QuikFloppy uses an extremely compact and efficient repetitive caching system, which results in speed increases (when using PC Exchange) of anywhere from 30% to 500%. QuikFloppy eliminates painfully slow pauses and delays that occur when using DOS media with PC Exchange. See performance results below.
Installing QuikFloppy
To install, simply drag the QuikFloppy extension icon into System Folder. Then restart your Macintosh and QuikFloppy will install.

Performance Results using PC Exchange
Tests were run on a Macintosh Quadra 605 with 8 megabytes of RAM. A 1.44MB DOS diskette with about fifty files was used in the tests. PC Exchange version 1.0.3 (Jun 1993) was used. The disk was ejected and reformatted between tests.
