  1. MiniMonitor

  3. MiniMonitor is a small application, that lets you view the video-input on screen. Therefore you need either an AV Macintosh or some thirdparty video-input device that supports a Quicktime VDIG plus some video signal source, like a VCR or a camera.

  5. It's main features are
  6.   - FAT binary
  7.   - grabbing in 24bit color
  8.     - Supports drag&drop when grabbing (requires Drag Manager)
  9.   - special TV mode
  10.   - hiding of videotext signals (see below)
  11.   - direct VCR mode switch
  12.   - requires as little as 100kB (if no grabbing occurs)

  15. MiniMonitor has been tested on various AV Powermacs and on a Quadra 660AV.

  19. File Menu
  20. Grab Picture  
  21. Grabs the current picture. Reports if there is not enough memory available. MiniMonitor itself requires only about 100kB, however if you grab a fullscreen PAL picture, you need to adjust the memory settings of MiniMonitor to at least 1.5MB.
  22. You cab also grab a picture by dragging it outside of the main window. This, however, requires the Drag Manager which is available in System 7.1Pro or System 7.5 and later.
  23. Video Settings
  24. Shows the default Video settings dialog. The settings are saved within MiniMonitor, so make sure the disk is unlocked on the media where MiniMonitor is stored on.

  26. Options Menu
  27. Audio Playthrough
  28. Enables or disables audio playthrough if sound-input hardware is available.
  29. Hide Videotext Lines
  30. Hides the first few video lines. I don't know if this is necessary when using NTSC signals, however when using PAL, it's really useful to hide these annoying videotext signals. Most stations in Europe carry these signals.
  31. VCR mode
  32. Shortcut to VCR setting within the standard video setting dialog. Switches between VCR and normal broadcast PLL setting.

  34. Let's you set some predefined window sizes.
  35. To resize the video window to a custom size, just click in the bottom-right of the window and drag it to a new size.
  36. TV Mode On
  37. Just the video signal is displayed, everything else is black. TV Mode is active until the mouse button is pressed. Screensavers won't interfere as long as TV Mode is active.
