  21. A) Installation of the BigWin Driver
  22. ====================================

  24.   Start Windows and choose at the Program Manager:
  25.       FILE-RUN
  26.   and type A:\V7SETUP.
  27.   (Only for floppy disk installation, does not apply to CD ROM install.)

  29. B) Notes and Known Restrictions
  30. ===============================
  31. V7SETUP:
  32. --------
  33.   1) V7SETUP adds line "BASEADDRESS=0" in SYSTEM.INI under title
  34.   [CAD1K.DRV], required for BigWin. Only if system has more
  35.   than 32 MB RAM, SYSTEM.INI should be edited and this value
  36.   be changed to 1.
  37.  
  38.   2) If you run Windows programs using a modem you should change
  39.   in SYSTEM.INI under title [CAD1K.DRV] the line CHIPSYNC=0 to
  40.   CHIPSYNC=1.
  41.  
  42.   3) During the first installation the driver will be installed with the
  43.   lowest possible refresh rate at the chosen resolution.
  44.   If you use a high-class multi-sync monitor and you choose a
  45.   resolution 1024x768 and above, synchronisation problems may occur.
  46.   To prevent this, please primarily choose the resolution
  47.   640x480. Afterwards you can change to the preferred resolution and
  48.   refresh rate with the utility V7SETUP, which appears automatically
  49.   after starting Windows.

  51.   4) Installing graphics drivers for Windows and Virus Check Programs
  52.   Virus check programs, such as the DOS 6.0 internal one, which search
  53.   for changes at *.exe and *.com files, detect changes at the file
  54.   win.com after installing the SPEA V7 BigWin driver. This is not a
  55.   virus, because while installing the driver, driver supplements will
  56.   be saved in this file.

  58. SPEA BigWin Driver:
  59. -------------------
  60.   1) The SPEA V7 BigWin driver may not be used in 80286 based
  61.   systems.
  62.  
  63.   2) VDD limitation:  Cannot execute any VGA graphics modes in a
  64.   windowed mode. The XGA driver supplied by Microsoft has a similiar
  65.   limitation.
  66.  
  67.   3) True Color:
  68.   If you use more than 15 icons in one program group, a message will
  69.   tell you that not all symbols are converted correctly. These symbols
  70.   will be displayed in black. This is caused by a Microsoft Program
  71.   Manager limitation.

  73. WINtune:
  74. --------
  75.   WINtune is not available for the V7-MIRAGE P-64 with Trio64 chip.

  77. C) SPEA BigWin and Windows 95
  78. =============================
  79.   The program V7SETUP and the BigWin drivers have been adapted to the
  80.   Windows 95 requirements and have been tested with the current Final
  81.   Beta Release of Windows 95 "4.00.347".

  83.   The following resrictions will be fixed upto the final delivery of
  84.   Windows 95:
  85.   - SPEAview does not yet work under Windows 95.
  86.   - With this version driver adjustments (resolutions, color depth,
  87.   refresh rate) may be done only using V7SETUP and not yet using the
  88.   system configuration routines from Windows 95.
