  3. This diskette contains release version 1.04 of the Tseng Labs ET4000/W32,  
  4. ET4000/W32i and ET4000/W32p display driver for OS/2 2.1 and OS/2 2.11.
  5.  
  6. Use of this software indicates acceptance of the Tseng Labs, Inc. 
  7. License Agreement contained in the file license.txt.

  11. NOTE:  If OS/2 2.1 Service Pack is installed and your system has a
  12.        Tseng Labs W32 chip you MUST modify the installation procedure
  13.        as follows, or your system will hang.  This is not necessary for
  14.        W32i and W32p chips.  If you don't know which chip your system has
  15.        it is recommended that you follow the modified instructions to avoid
  16.        problems.

  19.    1) Follow steps 1-7 as described below.

  21.    2) For step 8 select INSTALL USING DEFAULTS FOR MONITOR TYPE.

  23.    3) Skip steps 9&10.
  24.  
  25.    4) Follow steps 11-15 as described below.

  27.    This will install the driver using the default refresh rates.
  28.  
  29.    If you wish to change the refresh rates you can now reinstall the
  30.    driver as described below.

  35.                    INSTALLATION  INSTRUCTIONS

  38. 1.      Open OS/2 SYSTEM.
  39. 2.      Open COMMAND PROMPTS.
  40. 3.      Open either OS/2 WINDOW or OS/2 FULL SCREEN.
  41. 4.      Insert Tseng Installation diskette in drive A.
  42.         Label the diskette TSENG 1 using the command LABEL A: , if you
  43.         have not already done so.

  45. |IF YOU HAVE A GATEWAY COMPUTER:
  46. |        Type:
  47. |            A: [enter]
  48. |            GATEWAY A: C: [enter]

  50. |            Where A: is the drive with the Tseng Installation diskette,
  51. |            and C: is the drive with OS/2 installed.

  53. |            Now remove the Tseng Installation diskette from drive A:,
  54. |            Shut Down your system, reboot your computer, follow 
  55. |            steps 1-4 again and continue with step 5 below.

  61.         Where A: is the drive with the Tseng Installation diskette,
  62.         and C: is the drive with OS/2 installed.

  64. 6.      From the DISPLAY DRIVER INSTALL window,
  65.                 select PRIMARY DISPLAY
  66.                 select OK.
  67.  
  68. 7.      From the PRIMARY DISPLAY ADAPTER TYPE window,
  69.                 select TSENG LABORATORIES ET4000/W32/W32i/W32p
  70.                 select OK.

  72. 8.      From the MONITOR CONFIGURATION/SELECTION UTILITY window,
  73.                 select INSTALL USING DISPLAY ADAPTER UTILITY PROGRAM
  74.                 select OK.

  76. 9.      From the MONITOR CONFIGURATION/SELECTION UTILITY LOCATION      
  77.         window,
  78.                 type A:\SETMODE.EXE
  79.                 select OK
  80.                 
  81. 10.     SETMODE will prompt you to set refresh rates for 640x480
  82.         resolution, then for 800x600, and finally for 1024x768. 
  83.         Currently available choices are shown in parentheses.
  84.         The refresh rates selected will apply to OS2 DESKTOP and
  85.         seamless windows.

  88. 11.     From the SELECT DISPLAY RESOLUTION window,
  89.                 select the desired resolution
  90.                 select OK.
  91.  
  92. 12.     From the SOURCE DIRECTORY window,
  93.                 select INSTALL.
  94.  
  95. 13.     When the drivers are completely installed, you will be prompted 
  96.          to shut down and restart the system for changes to take effect.
  97.                 select OK.

  99. 14.     Remove the diskette from drive A.
  100. 15.     Shut down and restart.

  109.                 WIN-OS2 FULL SCREEN REFRESH RATES
  110.  
  111. To set a refresh rate of 72 Hz for 640x480, 800x600 
  112. and 70 Hz for 1024x768 for WIN-OS2 full screen 
  113. do the following:
  114.  
  115. 1. Copy VMODE.COM from the w32/w32i/w32p driver disk to your
  116.    utilities directory.
  117.  
  118. 2. Add the following commands to autoexec.bat
  119.      C:\UTIL\VMODE 72HZ
  120.      C:\UTIL\VMODE 48K
  121.      C:\UTIL\VMODE 72M
  122.    where C:\UTIL is the name of your utilities directory
  123.    containing VMODE.COM.
  124.  
  125. 3. Shutdown and reboot.
  126.  
  127. WIN-OS2 full screen will now be capable of 72 hz refresh at
  128. 640x480 and 800x600, and 70 hz for 1024x768. Be sure your
  129. monitor can handle the higher refresh rates.
