% This is a quick and dirty hack up in order to provide a definition
% file similar to latin1.def for PC8 character sets. This is not yet
% tested, so be prepared to encounter mistakes and mail them to me
% (dak@pool.informatik.rwth-aachen.de). In contrast to the current
% latin1.def file, this file uses groups to protect translations from
% missing blanks, like an accented letter i at the end of the word,
% which get translated into \'{\i} rather than \'\i, so you get
% T\`{\i} e\~{\i} rather than T\`\i e\~\i, which would give a missing
% blank in the table of contents, for example.
%
% Another advantage over the standard latin1.def is that you may load
% this input encoding after german.sty, if you want.
%
% You use this input encoding by saying
% \usepackage[pc8]{inputenc}. You need to tell your TeX version that
% it should leave 8-Bit characters alone. Some try to provide
% translations by their own (like emTeX, unless you use iniTeX with
% the /8 option). Those work pretty well, but make your
% text unportable, and will usually fail in \verbatim-like
% environments.
