1. Installation
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
System Requirements:
- IBM PC or 100 percent compatible
- Processor 80386 oder higher
- DOS 4.01 and Windows 3.1 or higher (e.g. WfW 3.11)
- 2 MB of available memory
- 850 KB free hard disk space
The installation is very easy. Choose the 'Run' command from the 'File' menu
of the Windows Program Manager. Enter the command line 'A:\SETUP' and
excecute this command by pressing the ENTER key.
You will be prompted for the installation directory, which is by default
'C:\MINDMAN'. You can use the default path or you can enter a different
directory. The rest of the installation runs automatically and takes
about 2-4 minutes.
Before you can edit your MindMan files through the Windows File Manager
you must
1. start MindMan at least one time
2. map the file extension '.MMP' to the MindMan application in
the File Manager.
During the installation a logfile is written with all important actions of
the installation. You can find this ASCII text file in your installation
directory with the file name 'SETUP.LOG'.
In some cases no program group will be created under Win95. Open the MindMan installation
directory with the Explorer and drag the file MINDMAN.EXE with the right mouse button
onto the Win95 Desktop. Release the mouse button and create a shortcut to MindMan.
With this shortcut you can now start MindMan without any problems.
1.1 Network Installation
------------------------
If your installation path is on a network drive or you are using a
Windows network installation, you must have sufficient user rights to
the installation path and the Windows SYSTEM directory. Ask your system
administrator to be sure. There is not special network installation
because a normal installation will not cause any problems to install
a new copy on every PC.
All files that are located on a common network path, will be installed
again if necessary. Make sure that no other PC on the network is using
MindMan or is reading the MindMan help file.
1.2 Multiuser access on a network (SHARE)
-----------------------------------------
If you working with MindMan on a network, it offers a multiuser
protection. A Mind-Map can then only be used and opened by one user
(on a PC). To do this, it is necessary that you load the DOS program
SHARE.EXE from your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Ask your system administrator for
help on this one. The options /F:4096 and /L:500 should be used with
SHARE.EXE. If you are using Windows for Workgroups v3.11 in extended
mode, you do not need SHARE.EXE.
If you encounter installation problems, please contact your distributor or
use our Website.

1.3 If you already own a previos version of MindMan
----------------------------------------------------
All older Mind-Map files from previous versions of MindMan (1.1, 1.2, 2.0)
can be read without any problems with version 2.1. But, you should not
try to read files with the older 1.X versions of MindMan that have been created
with version 2.0 or 2.1!
Mind Maps created with MindMan v2.1 cannot be converted to MindMan v2.0 files.
The best way is to install the new version 2.1 into the same directory
where your older version was installed originally. The old version will
then automatically be overwritten. This way you prevent that you run
the older version and then use a new Mind-Map file.
2. First Steps with MindMan
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before you start with MindMan, you should read the following 3 chapters
in the online help:
1. "Introduction to Mind-Mapping(tm)"
2. "Overview to MindMan's Functionality"
3. "Description of Menus" -> Help Menu ->
Using Help -> "Click here to continue"
The installation directory contains the some Mind-Map examples. Have a
look at these Mind-Maps and play around with them for a while. You will
recognize very fast what a Mind-Map is and how it should look like and
you become familiar with all the MindMan features.
3. Registration
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
MindMan is distributed as shareware. It is a fully functioning program.
The shareware version has the same functionality as the registered version
with the exception that you can only enter up to 25 topics total (counting
all opened Mind-Map documents together).
Through our distributors, you can order the registered version that does
not have any limitations. You then will be automatically notified if
there is a major update for MindMan. You can also ask them for MindMan
support.
For ordering please use the orderform ORDERFRM.WRI.
4. Licence Agreement and Warranty Disclaimer
----------------------------------------------------------------------
By using the registered or the shareware version, the buyer accepts the
following license agreement:
All rights of the program belong to the Author. All data from MindMan
must not be duplicated in any way or sold without the Authors
permission. The proram or parts of the program must not be changed.
One license for MindMan can be installed on several computers; but, only
