- Welcome to Myzar 2.1. Here are some things you must know:
-
-
- - This version suports clients v461, and those clients *ONLY*. Do not use it
- with old rc5des clients, it will not work: output format is different, and
- client preferences file (.ini) format is extremely different, so supporting
- both clients with just one executble was really too much of an effort.
-
-
- - Myzar is provided "executable only". This is because I got access to beta
- clients only one week before the official release, and a week was barely
- enough to make the needed chages to the code (many). I simply hadn't time to
- update documentation and contact translators to update catalog files.
- However, I'll start these tasks now, so expect a full archive soon.
-
-
- - Myzar now speaks english only: too many strings changed, so I was forced to
- push the catalog revision number, thus making Myzar incompatible with older
- catalogs. New catalogs will be made soon, see above.
-
-
- - OGR support is there, but hasn't been tested. Anyway, OGR blocks will not be
- counted in Myzar statistics.
-
-
- - Myzar now uses "official" new distributed.net terminology when it comes to
- blocks: a 2^28 block is now a "work unit" and larger blocks are now "packets".
- To reflect this, some keywords changed their name: "%curblk" is now "%curpkt"
- and so on. However Myzar will automatically convert keywords when loading an
- old preferences file.
-
-
- - Clients' priorities aren't configurable anymore within Myzar preferences,
- because new clients are *extremely* well-written and amiga-integrated: among
- other things, they can set their own priority according to a setting in the
- .ini file. You can access this setting from the client configuration window.
-
-
- - Log file analyzer has been temporarily disabled.
-
-
- - WARNING: 68k and PPC client can share buffers, but a packet started by a
- client can't be finished by the other, it will have to be restarted from
- scratch. If you share buffers, Myzar tries its best to avoid this, but if you
- start/stop the clients singularly you may end up with restarted blocks.
-
- - MAKE sURE YOU READ CLIENTS' README FILE, TOO!!!!

-
- Installaton
- ===========
-
-
- - If you are installing Myzar for the first time, you will need the full 2.0
- archive, available at http://www.crosswinds.net/~myzar/. Extract the 2.0
- archive first, then copy the new executable over the old one. Better to have a
- look at the 2.0 documentaion: even if not updated, it will certainly provide
- good help on how to configure/use Myzar
-
- - If you are an old user:
-
- - Finish all blocks you might still have in your buffers with old Myzar and
- old clients, and flush them to distributed.net.
-
- - Install new clients
-
- - Copy new Myzar executable over old one
-
- - Start Myzar, open the preferences window and provide the full path to new
- clients. Close it and test the client(s) using the appropriate menu item. If
- some test should fail, mail client's autor immediately!
-
- - Now open client configuration window and make desired changes to client
- configuration.
-
- - Go on-line and start Myzar in on-line mode: the client(s) will fetch new
- packets and start working.
