  34. A.) Installing MDI Unix Driver for SCO ODT 5.0
  35. ==============================================

  37. 1. Log into the UNIX system as supervisor (root) and enter Maintenance mode.
  38.  
  39.     (Note: Make sure that the current directory is "/"
  40.      using UNIX command - pwd.)
  41.  
  42.    Please follow the following steps to uncompress the package file:
  43.  
  44.    >  cd /tmp   (and insert the package floppy in the proper drive, i.e. a:)
  45.    >  doscp a:/sco/5.x/vol.000 ./VOL.000.000
  46.  
  47.    Now the package installation directory is ready for installing.
  48.  
  49. 3.  The following sections describe the configuration of the driver.
  50.     It is suggested that you should perform these instructions in the
  51.     single-user environment.
  52.  
  53.     Run the custom utility and select the "Install new package"
  54.     option.
  55.  
  56.     Select Media Type "Media Image" and type Image Directory "/tmp "
  57.     It will prompt with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 Adapter (ver 1.0.2)"
  58.  
  59.     After running the custom utility and the new package is installed,
  60.     you should use the "netconfig" command to add the driver into your
  61.     system as described in step 4 below.
  62.  
  63. 4. Run "netconfig". Add the desired chain.
  64.  
  65. 5. When the chain has been configured, select 'q' from the
  66.     netconfig menu. and relink the kernel at the prompt.
  67.  
  68. 6. To active the adapter, you must reboot. When the system
  69.     boots, you should see the following message among the
  70.     other configuration messages:
  71.  
  72.     %ethernet  0xD800-0xD81F   11   -   type=100 addr=00-00-e8-xx-xx-xx

  76.      auto mode
  77.      choice is auto negotiation mode
  78.      Speed is 100 Mbps

  80.     with the appropriate I/O addresses, IRQ, Adapter Type ,IEEE address and
  81.     medium mode (auto,100full,100half,10full,10half).
  82.     The display of last three bytes of IEEE address depends on the adapter
  83.     currently plugged onto your system.

  85. 7. If you encounter any problems during installation,
  86.     (i.e., an error message appears on screen) call your dealer for assistance.

  90. B.) Installing LLI Unix Driver for SCO 3.2.4 (ODT 3.0)

  93.  1. Plug the SMC1211TX Fast Ethernet Adapter into a PCI slot
  94.     in your PC machine.
  95.  
  96.  2. Turn ON the machine and login as "root" user. (In maintenance mode)
  97.  
  98.  3. Insert SMC SCO UNIX Driver diskette to floppy A: and
  99.     enter the following command from Unix Shell to install the
  100.     SCO Unix driver.
  101.  
  102.         # cd /tmp
  103.         # doscp a:/sco/3.x/install .
  104.         # chmod +x install
  105.         # ./install
  106.  
  107.  4. The screen will prompt with the following message,
  108.  
  109.       Install SMC EZ Card 10/100 LLI Driver
  110.       Please input source path ? (ex.: a:/sco/3.x)
  111.  
  112.  5. Enter the driver full path (a:/sco/3.x) and press the ENTER key
  113.     to start copying the driver files to the Unix system.
  114.  
  115.  6. Run "netconfig" command from Unix shell.

  117.         # netconfig

  119.  7. Select "1. Add a chain" from the configuring chain options.
  120.  
  121.  8. Select "4. sco_tcp   SCO TCP/IP for UNIX" from the configuring
  122.     protocol options.

  124.  9. Select "18. r7e0   SMC EZ Card 10/100 Adapter LLI
  125.     Driver, board 0" from the configuring driver options.

  127. 10. The system will prompt with the following message to complete
  128.     configuration of the driver chain,
