  92.           This Readme file explains how to install the NDIS2 driver
  93.           under DOS, Windows for Workgroups, OS/2 and Win95 .

  95.           This driver is currently supported for the SMCPWR Ethernet and
  96.           FastEthernet adapters.

  99. 3. Preinstallation Hardware and Software Requirements:

  101.    3.1  Hardware Requirements:

  103.     o An IBM-compatible personal computer with 80386 or higher
  104.       microprocessor and PCI bus.

  106.      o A 8432/8434 PCI Ethernet board or 9332 Family Fast-Ethernet board.

  108.     o a Digital Semiconductor DC21X4-based Ethernet adapter for that bus.

  158. 5. Installing the Hardware Boards:
  159.  
  160.  
  161.        In order to install the 8432/8434 and 9332 Family PCI Ethernet and
  162.        Fast-Ethernet boards in a PCI machine, install the 8432/8434 or
  163.        9332 PCI board in your machine (make sure the slot you select
  164.        supports bus master operations!).
  165.  
  166.        Motherboards with bus master jumpers and interrupt jumpers for PCI
  167.        slots:
  168.     - Enable bus master operations to the selected PCI slot using the
  169.       appropriate motherboard jumper.
  170.     - Select interrupt to the selected PCI slot using the appropriate
  171.       motherboard jumper.
  172.     - Enter the setup menu of your machine and:
  173.       o Enable bus master on the NIC's PCI slot.
  174.       o Enable I/O on the NIC's PCI slot.
  175.       o Define interrupt number on the NIC's PCI slot.

  177.        Motherboard with automatic PCI configuration:
  178.     - No specific setup is needed.

  183. 6. Installing Software:
  184.  
  185.    Various network operating systems (NOS) provide utility programs for
  186.    installing drivers.
  187.  
  188.    For some of the NOS the installation diskette provides support
  189.    FOR THE FIRST BOARD INSTALLED ONLY.  If multiple boards are installed,
  190.    the second and subsequent boards must be installed manually. (See
  191.    section 6.5, Installing multiple boards).
