  3.       How to install IBM LAN Server & OS/2 LAN Requesters with W940ND.DOS
  4.      =====================================================================

  6. * Please follow the procedure below to setup IBM LAN Server & OS/2
  7.   LAN Requesters:
  8.  
  9.    1. When installation program asks for a network drivers,
  10.       select "Other Driver". (You can also type "C:\IBMCOM\INSTALL"
  11.       to re-invoke this process)
  12.    2. Insert Winbond Drivers diskette into drive A:
  13.    3. Type "A:\NDIS2\LANSVR.OS2" and press <Enter>. "Winbond W89C940 PCI
  14.       Ethernet Controller" will appear at Network Adapter list box.
  15.    4. Select "Winbond W89C940 PCI Ethernet Controller" and ADD it.
  16.    5. ADD the protocol you desired.
  17.    6. Follow the direction to finish the setup procedure.

  19. * Trouble Shooting
  20.  
  21.    1. Message: "!! No W89C940 card detected"
  22.         Solution: Make sure that your W89C940 card is plugged steadily.
  23.  
  24.    2. Message: "!! No free W89C940 card"
  25.         Solution: One driver for one card. Make sure that there is less
  26.         drivers loaded than card plugged. If option keyword SelectedID is
  27.         assigned, make sure that all node ID's assigned is correct or let
  28.         drivers without SelectedID be loaded after those with SelectedID.
  29.  
  30.    3. Message: "!! Cannot open PROTMAN$"
  31.         Solution: Make sure that PROTMAN.DOS is loaded before W940ND.DOS,
  32.         and it is initialized successfully. If the syntax of PROTOCOL.INI
  33.         is incorrect, PROTMAN$ cannot be loaded.
  34.  
  35.    4. Message: "!! Bad Parameter in PROTOCOL.INI"
  36.         Solution: The parameter is invalid. For example, the correct
  37.         SelectedID format need two single quotation signs ('). If you fail
  38.         to do it, this message will be shown.
  39.  
  40.    5. Message: "!! Unknown Keyword in PROTOCOL.INI"
  41.         Solution: W940ND only accepts two keywords: DRIVERNAME and SELECTED.
  42.         Other keywords are unknown. Notice that, PCI bus need not assign
  43.         IOBASE and INTERRUPT.
  44.  
  45.    6. Message: "!! Specified SELECTEDID is absent or bound"
  46.         Solution: You specified a node ID at keyword SelectedID, and this ID
  47.         is bound by another drivers or can not be found. Make sure that the
  48.         ID is correct.
